Exciting plans for a £12m luxury seaside spa hotel in the beautiful South Hams have been unveiled.
Luxury boutique operator Eden Hotel Collection acquired the 35 bedroom Tides Reach Hotel in South Sands, Salcombe in 2014 from the Edwards family, who had owned the property for 47 years.
The company says it will spend in the region of £12m on an extensive redevelopment project, which will see the hotel expand to 50 bedrooms. It is expected to be open to the public in 2018.
“The new waterfront hotel, complete with spa, private beach and an extensive terrace with sea views, will offer high quality and contemporary dining and luxury stays on this beautiful section of British coastline,” Eden Hotel Collection said in a statement.
The Tides Reach project has been designed by Torquay-based architects Kay Elliott. The hotel design has a range of sustainable features including rainwater harvesting for all WCs, green roofs to provide water attenuation, solar thermal panels to provide hot water for the bedrooms and an air source heat recovery system to heat the hotel pool.

The new Tides Reach is an exciting development and we look forward to being part of the Salcombe community.”
Mark said that a core value of Eden Hotel Collection is to integrate into the community, building links with local businesses, suppliers and people and the group are keen to make a positive impact on the local economy in Salcombe. He added that he hoped around 100 jobs would be created as a result of the new development.

The award-winning Eden Hotel Collection portfolio includes the Buckland Touts-Saints Hotel in Kingsbridge, and the luxury Bovey Castle hotel and estate on Dartmoor.
