Park Hyatt London River Thames has announced the opening of Yú Gé, a sophisticated Cantonese restaurant that promises to elevate London’s flourishing Chinese fine dining scene. Located within the recently opened luxury hotel in Nine Elms, Yú Gé celebrates the rich heritage of Cantonese cuisine while embracing contemporary elegance.
Yú Gé, which joins the hotel’s impressive collection of dining and drinking venues, offers an authentic journey through the flavours of southern China, combining time-honoured culinary techniques with seasonal ingredients. The 74-seat restaurant features main dining areas, semi-private and private dining spaces, designed to create an atmosphere that harmoniously blends traditional Chinese architecture with modern service.
At the helm of Yú Gé’s kitchen is chef Eng Soon Yeo, whose culinary journey began in the vibrant streets of Singapore. A master of Cantonese cuisine, chef Soon brings decades of expertise and a deeply personal connection to the culinary traditions he now shares with London’s discerning diners.
“Cantonese cuisine is an art of precision and restraint,” said Soon. “At Yú Gé, our mission is to honour these traditions while allowing the natural flavours of our premium ingredients to take centre stage. Each dish tells a story – of my heritage, my journey, and the beautiful simplicity that lies at the heart of Cantonese cooking.”
The restaurant’s menu is a testament to Soon’s philosophy, showcasing signature dishes that epitomise the sophistication of Cantonese gastronomy. The Peking duck, a highlight of the dinner service, undergoes a meticulous preparation process, resulting in perfectly crisp skin and succulent meat, served with house made pancakes and traditional accompaniments. The handcrafted dim sum selection offers delicate parcels of joy, from classic har gow with sweet, tender prawns to innovative creations that reflect the chef’s contemporary vision.
Another standout dish is the steamed whole fish with ginger and spring onion, where ultra-fresh fish is prepared with a delicate touch that allows its natural flavours to shine through. The Guangzhou traditional roast meats showcase Soon’s mastery of traditional roasting techniques, featuring perfectly seasoned and expertly prepared pork, duck, and chicken, each with crackling skin and tender, flavourful meat.
“Yú Gé represents our commitment to providing exceptional dining experiences that honour cultural heritage while delivering the refined luxury that defines Park Hyatt,” said Rike Erdbrink, general manager of Park Hyatt London River Thames. “As London’s appetite for refined Chinese cuisine continues to grow, Yú Gé offers a thoughtfully curated menu that celebrates the authenticity and complexity of Cantonese cooking,” he added.
The restaurant’s sophisticated beverage programme complements its culinary offerings with an expertly curated selection of traditional Chinese leaf teas, global wines including exclusive Chinese producers with superb vintages, and premium Baijiu.
The venue also features innovative cocktails that incorporate Chinese ingredients alongside artisanal non-alcoholic options. The elegant interior design includes two distinctive private dining rooms, each offering unique experiences. The first provides an authentic traditional setting with round-table seating for 10 guests, while the second presents a contemporary interpretation with flexible seating for up to 12 guests. A third adaptable private dining space in the main restaurant caters to various group sizes and occasions.
Yú Gé welcomes guests for lunch and dinner from Wednesday to Sunday, offering both à la carte options and specially crafted tasting menus. Located within the newly opened Park Hyatt London River Thames, Yú Gé adds to the hotel’s prestigious dining portfolio, which includes The Nine Elms Kitchen | Terrace and TAMISé Wine Library and Tea Lounge (opening soon). Located in the rapidly evolving Nine Elms district, Yú Gé establishes itself as a premium destination for both hotel guests and London’s discerning diners seeking an elevated and luxurious Cantonese dining experience.
