Many of us don’t realise that our passports give us a golden ticket to world travel without the need for lengthy paperwork and hours spent queuing for that stamp of approval.
Depending on your citizenship, you can have access to hundreds of countries visa-free, enabling you to jet off at the drop of a hat.
Whether for business or pleasure this luxury is something many of us take for granted, especially when it comes to the fact that visas can be costly when required, and take weeks to complete. For example, those without visa-free access to the UK have to fill out a ten-page form to gain a visitor’s visa.
At present Germans hold the strongest passport with visa-free access to 177 countries, with Swedes coming in at second place with access to 176 countries, and France, Finland, Italy, Spain and the UK all tied in third place with access to 175 countries.
Unfortunately, unless your passport sits at the bottom of the visa-free passport index, you probably don’t realise just how frustrating it can be to not have the freedom.
We can all get used to booking our plane tickets and not having to think about anything else expect which factor to pack, but many citizens of other countries have to consider the cost of their visa and ensure it’s filled out correctly.
In a bid for freedom many high-net-worth individuals of these countries are investing in citizenship programmes, as it allows them to gain visa-free access to many countries around the world that their primary citizenship would not have allowed.
The current most popular citizenship by investment programme is Grenada, as wealthy investors can benefit not only from making this Caribbean island their second home, but also from the visa-free travel to about 120 countries and territories around the world.
