Choosing the right headphones can be a daunting task, but finding a personalised audio experience is an additional pressure, but thankfully V-Moda have come to the rescue with the Crossfade Wireless. When asked to take a look, we were intrigued to see whether the promise of luxury and personalisation would match the technology required to qualify these as a worthy investment.
Aesthetically, the V-Moda Crossfades set themselves apart from their competitors thanks to the unique hexagon ‘shields’ located on the rear of each pad which can be customised to suit each user’s preference. With the opportunity to choose between the Precious Metals group, Raw and Gold Plated Metals, Stainless Steel and Fibre (9 vibrant colours) you can ensure your pair reflect your personality. The Precious Metals collection are our favourites featuring commissioned works of art with sterling silver, 14k gold, 14k rose gold, 14k white gold and platinum to choose from. To further this, the shields are 3D printed and then traditionally finished by meticulous hand polishing with the option to also endorse yourself with your own logo embossed on the shield. Now that’s impressive personalisation. On our review pair we used the White Silver design and the contrasting white steel flex headband certainly complimented the strong metal presence and grey detailing on the ear pads and headband.
During our review, we definitely came to approve of the ergo soft memory foam used in the ear pads, that throughout use didn’t give any of the dreaded overheating, sticky uncomfortable feeling or discomfort around the shaping of the ear pad. This level of comfort also comes courtesy of the ‘Mind The Gap’ approach with patented sleek look designed to follow the natural lines of the users facial features and minimise the ‘unsightly’ gap. The comfort of the listening experience has to be one of the best we’ve experienced and on that alone, we would recommend the v-moda collection.
Connectivity throughout our review use was sublime; without fault both with or without an audio cable and also in varying conditions. The V-Moda Crossfade Wireless headphones do also come with Dual Inputs & V-Cork, a SpeakEasy™ Mic Cable and a SharePlay™ Audio Cables to enhance your listening experience on a social level. Durability is evident throughout the use of materials and design elements including the STEELFLEX headband (can bend 10+ times flat), the cable and plug bend ( capable of bending over 1 million times, 100x industry standard) and the added factor of its beyond military-level quality MIL-STD-810G Test Standards.
All-in-all, everything we’ve seen with the V-Moda Crossfade Wireless headphones has impressed us, especially the personalisation element, and is a definite must-invest if you’re looking to add to a high-quality, luxurious audio experience to your collection.
