Week 48 saw supercar favourites get an upgrade and a new market entrant giving us plenty to ooh and ahh at as we distract ourselves from the festive frenzy surrounding us.
Say hello the new electric car brad and their car, the NIO EP9
Hosting their launch event at the Saatchi Gallery in London, UK, electric car company NextEV unveiled its brand, NIO, a visionary electric car brand which will help users rediscover the ‘joyful lifestyle’ of car ownership. How? By creating inspiring vehicles that deliver superior performance with a new benchmark for aesthetic design and unique user experiences.
In addition the company unveiled its electric supercar, the NIO EP9, which has achieved a new lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschliefe. On October 12th 2016, the EP9 lapped the 20.8km ‘Green Hell’ in 7m 05.12s, beating the previous EV lap record held, marking it out as the fastest electric car in the world.
GVE launches a UK market first
With the new addition of a premier, purpose-built detailing centre, GVE London has become the UK’s first full-service independent supercar showroom. Operating from world-class facilities in Uxbridge, the 20,000 sq ft showroom has a sales/purchasing division, servicing centre and now a bespoke detailing unit; all aiming to deliver its clients an end-to-end supercar concierge.
The vast, independent, West London-based showroom, which is 20,000 sq ft, specialises in the sales of modern thoroughbreds and classic supercars, where on average it typically displays 30 supercars. Due to growing demand from customers, founder David Rai adapted the unit to also include a five-bay servicing centre earlier this year, as well as the recently launched detailing centre. Employing experienced supercar technicians, the centres now have a full-time team of six service and six detailing staff.
Lotus Exige Sport 380 is revealed in roadster and coupe version
High powered, highly evolved, and ferociously fast, the Lotus Exige Sport 380 is the most aggressive iteration yet for the Exige model line up. The top-of-the-range model carries over the lessons learnt in the development of the acclaimed Exige Sport 350, launched last year, but with significant revisions lowering weight, boosting power and enhancing aerodynamics. Rather than relying excessively on electronics, or allow sterile interfaces to dull the experience, the extreme Exige Sport 380 offers a pure, undiluted drive that has to be experienced to be fully appreciated.
Unrivalled in its class: faster, sharper, and more direct than adversaries, the Exige Sport 380 is definitely not for the timid. With a dry weight of just 1,066 kg with lightweight options, and boasting a potent power-to-weight ratio of 352 hp per tonne, the new, pure-bred Lotus has been conceived to out perform and out manoeuvre so called supercars. The new Exige is blisteringly fast off the line, dispatching 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds before reaching a top speed of 178 mph.
