Leading British lifestyle blogger Camille Kenny-Ryder from Thoroughly Modern Milly talks to Luxury Lifestyle Magazine about her favourite beauty products and reveals some of her best beauty tips and tricks.
1. What is your signature scent?
I travel a lot so try to pick up different, unique scents from around the world. At the moment I love ‘Fair Verona’ from Strange Invisible Perfumes in Venice Beach.
2. Which three beauty products couldn’t you live without?
Hydra Beauty Creme from Chanel – it smells delicious and makes my skin feel soft and healthy even in the coldest weather.
Estée Lauder, day wear – which moisturises the skin while giving it a healthy tint.
Tom Ford lipstick in Nude Vanille – perfect for a natural look.
3. Talk us through your morning and evening skincare routines. How are they different?
I’m a morning person so always have more time to pay my skin attention in the morning. I barely wear make-up so it’s important my skin feels fresh and nourished before leaving the house. I use a gentle exfoliator several mornings a week, followed by La Roche-Posay purifying foaming gel cleanser. Occasionally I’ll spritz with the Serozinc toner too before indulging my skin with Chanel Hydra Beauty Creme. In the evening I tend to be lazy and use facewipes (if I’m wearing makeup), cleanser and sometimes a spray of Aesop Moisture Facial Hydrosol.
4. How does your skin type affect the sort of makeup you wear?
I have generally clear skin and feel at my best when I’m not wearing any make-up, but in winter I’ll sometimes use tinted moisturiser, mascara and lipstick. When I wear more make-up I feel my skin looks tired the next day.
5. Talk us through your everyday makeup routine.
It’s pretty minimal, especially if I’ve got a busy day. Usually a light coat of tinted moisturiser, and good dose of lip balm and I’m out the door. But I’ll sometimes spend a little more time curling my eyelashes and putting on Chanel mascara and Tom Ford lipstick.
6. Strong eye or strong lip?
I go through phases, but usually a bright red pop on the lips beats smoky eyes for me.
7. What’s the best piece of beauty advice you have ever been given?
My mum recommending eyebrow threading, it’s expensive to get done every month (and painful) but the Brow girls work wonders and I think it transforms my face.
8. Everyone loves a Sunday night pampering session. Talk us through yours.
I get sent lots of products and one of my all time favourites is the Dr Perricone range. I’ll indulge on a Sunday night with a long hot bath and a Dr Perricone face mask.
9. What is your most decadent beauty product?
Perfumes. I have such a large collection from all over the world, and can always be tempted to buy an expensive bottle from a local perfumer if they have a lovely story synonymous with the destination, which they normally do!
10. What’s your favourite hairstyle for a glamorous night out, and how do you achieve it?
Recently I visited Edward James salon who gave me a lovely fresh new look, darkening my roots and giving my locks a healthy cut. Thanks to Edward’s clever cutting it now only take me moments to style my hair in the morning. But for a special night I’ll use my straighteners to give my hair a beachy wave and use the Bumble and Bumble de mode hairspray to hold it in place all night.
