Interior trends and styles come and go throughout the years, with some becoming more iconic than others.
It seems this year’s trend is millennial- and more so millennial pink. Think a very sweet almost sickly light pink palette– a colour probably most likely used within a young teens bedroom. Yet this shade of pink is being used more and more for interiors, from shops, restaurants to homes – but how do we style this shade without it being overpowering?
Leading interior designer, Vanessa Arbuthnott isn’t scared of a bit of colour, and gives her top five tips on styling the pale pink shade in your bedroom.
Choose the right shading
Believe it or not, the millennial pink comes in a few different tones, so if you’re a bit scared to try the light pinker shade, you could always opt for the dusty rose pink which would work perfectly in a bedroom. Perhaps you could wallpaper one feature wall in some dusky pink paper, to give the room a bit of a pink pop. Vanessa’s Wild & Free pink wallpaper is the perfect shade and design to add a little drama and exclusivity to the room.
Millennial bedding
If you’re a bit scared to indent millennial pink into your room by painting or wallpapering a wall, then why not bring in the shade by adding some pink bedding and pillows. There are so many different types of luxury bedding on the market that you will easily be able to find what you’re after. Maybe also look into getting a pink fabric headboard to add a bit of drama to the bedroom.
Pink fixtures
Adding a pop of pink is easy if you want it to be subtle, why not opt for a dramatic night lamp with a pink base, or perhaps a bedroom chair that is of a velvet bubblegum pink shade. If your room walls and general décor is cream then this will be much easier, and the pink will act as a nice bit of colour to add to the dynamic.
Go bold with a neon sign
Some may think it’s a little OTT, but if you really want to get involved with the millennial trend, why not add a touch of drama and add a neon sign above your bed or on one of the walls – this trend is very common at the moment and can act as a cool bit of art which can set your room apart from the rest of the house.
Decorate with pink accessories
With millennial pink being all the rage right now, this means you will easily find it in every home and interiors store. If you don’t fancy going the whole hog with millennial pink walls, then why not add some accessories to get involved in the trend, perhaps some pink inspired flowers, vases, ornaments or photo frames.
