With 134 rooms, our suite is perfectly located within the centre of the property and frames the horizon and an ocean view beyond. This side of Ibiza is renowned for its sunsets and Portinatx certainly delivers, situated just 20 meters from the intimate Portinatx beach and concealed within its unspoilt cove; as dusk falls the hotel will hand you a bottle of wine and cooler to allow you to perch on the beach below and watch the intense Mediterranean sunsets that colourfully flood the sky.
When it comes to the food, Barceló Portinatx cleverly balances variation with quality. The main restaurant for breakfast and where we swung by for a pre-sunset dinner was the hotel’s Posidonia Buffet Restaurant. Buffets can so often lack in consistency and are renowned for being a disappointment over the more traditional à la carte offering; however, Barceló Portinatx have created a buffet offering that does not disappoint.
The one evening we ate within the Posidonia Buffet Restaurant, impressive options included carefully cooked steaks and duck breasts with a wide selection of salads and satisfyingly great desserts. Across other areas of the hotel, poolside cocktails complement the contemporary and sleek pool space from the El Faro Pool Bar which serves drinks including sangria and margaritas to food options such as burgers and salads. The two other outlets are the Noray Beach Club that sits directly on the beach below the main part of the hotel and S’Ámfora Lobby Bar which serves as an all-day café and bar for those who pass and go.
A range of wellness options also filter across Barceló Portinatx. From morning yoga and outdoor fitness such as water sports, cycling and hiking – the hotel encourages guests to discover the surrounding areas however they may choose. Within the spa, a collection of massages and spa rituals inspired from the far corners of the globe are displayed in a menu found in each room. These vary from a volcanic stone therapy, a Hawaiian ‘lomi lomi’, Hindu head massage and Japanese head and neck massage.
The demand for all-inclusive offerings within the luxury hospitality sector are on the rise and Barceló Portinatx certainly shows how it’s done. For those looking for a hassle-free break where everything is included, the resort also presents guests with an all-inclusive accommodation programme which includes breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, as well as cocktails and soft drinks from the open bar.
