Situated on one of Chelsea’s charming back streets, Tom’s Kitchen is renowned British chef Tom Aiken’s flagship restaurant. A local favourite, with an intimate and laisse-faire feel, it celebrates great British dining amongst some of London’s most quintessentially English London streets.
Welcoming relaxed groups of friends and family, the restaurant has recently undergone an extensive refurbishment and has introduced a new concept to its cuisine that revolves around the popular sharing plate concept. A creative new menu that champions British small plates, it allows visitors to pick and choose across the variety of dishes and ingredients that are generously listed.
One that will constantly also evolve whilst adapting to the British seasons – local produce featured includes British asparagus, rhubarb, mushrooms and game. New small plates that Tom has introduced include a Cumbrian beef tartare with black garlic aioli, new season turnips and puffed rice and charred celeriac, cured duck breast and hazelnuts, followed by charred squid, rocket and watercress salsa verde and spatchcock Norfolk quail with peanut sauce, pickled sweet cucumber and buttermilk.
With time and attention on not only where produce has been sourced but also how it’s grown, Tom’s Kitchen is dedicated to working with a network of trusted UK based suppliers and producers. Taking this ethos and orbiting it across both the new sharing style menu and newly redesigned space, photography from of the suppliers is displayed to educate and inform those who visit on the importance of decreasing globalisation and utilising the provenance of the UK’s natural larder.
Alongside a new open kitchen that transmits the hard work, creativity and passion of Tom’s chefs out across the dining room – regular customers to the Chelsea favourite will be pleased to hear that Tom’s comfort food classics are still available. These include fish pie with cider, leeks and parsley crumb, the impressive Chateaubriand with onion tart and peppercorn sauce and TK seven-hour slow cooked shoulder of lamb hot pot.
Positioned in an old west London townhouse on Cale Street, the striking new bar has become the focus on the ground floor and is complimented with relaxed seating by the window. Turning our attention to the design, luxurious upholstery and a new rich and dark colour scheme introduces a cosy and intimate element which also includes the renovations to the two private dining spaces for private celebrations and intimate events.
Opening in 2006, Tom’s Kitchen started out as a as a contemporary all-day brasserie that specialised in British favourites and comfort food classics within a relaxed and informal setting. Today this fresh and updated new chapter brings the British restaurant up to speed, allowing diners to explore and try a variety of textures and flavours – all responsibly sourced from across the UK and savoured amongst the charisma of Chelsea.
