It was later renamed in recognition of its opulence and the architect – Charles Garnier – who designed it. Quartier Latin – or the Latin Quarter – is a must-visit for anyone spending a few days in the city. Also known as the 5th arrondissement, the quaint Latin Quarter is home to the Sorbonne University, and is lined with trendy, student-filled cafes and bookshops.
