Are you looking to relieve yourself from the stress of society in order to unwind and calm your mind? Then look no further than East Greenland, now home to the world’s most remote guesthouse.

Ittoqqortoormiit, formerly known as Scorsbysund, is home to a petite population of 450 people, along with the occasional polar bear and seals, and is situated 500 miles away from society, giving guests a very peaceful and relaxing getaway.

If you are intrigued by the possibility of having a secluded holiday in the biggest national park in the world, the National Park of North-East Greenland, then guests visiting this charming destination should make sure to dress warmly as temperatures reach 20 below Celsius, making it one of the coldest places on Earth. However, the town’s people will welcome you warmly into their picturesque municipality.

Hotels.com added the remote guesthouse to their website in early December, showcasing prices beginning as low as £82, making it incredibly affordable to stay in this beautifully secluded part of the world.

Those adventurous enough to visit the East Greenland municipality will need to catch at least three flights, including a helicopter ride, to travel the 1,486 miles from London. Visitors staying at the comforting guesthouse will have seven smoke-free spacious rooms along with basic amenities which they can make use of.

Adam Jay, the newly-appointed president of Hotels.com, explained how “Greenland as a destination is really hotting as today’s travellers are seeking those rewarding, once-in-a-lifetime experiences”.

Visiting this dainty picturesque town will allow guests to enjoy a variety of activities such as dog sledging, expedition cruises, wildlife spotting and witnessing the exquisite cosmic display of the Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern Lights, making this a very desirable destination to visit and explore.

As an adventurer himself, Jay continued to say how “this stunning peninsula is an epic bucket-list destination” for those adventurous enough to visit Ittoqqortoormiit, “where you can go sledging with wolves and kayaking in the Arctic”, making it a very memorable experience.

Visitors can take strolls throughout the town while admiring the incredible views of the spectacular landscapes surrounding Ittoqqortoormiit and witness the tallest mountain in the Arctic region, Gunnbjørn’s Mountain, which reaches a height of 3,694 metres. For those wanting to explore further, they can make use of public transport: dog sledging tours are available or snowmobiles. During the short but intense summer period, kayaks are available to rent and use along the fjord.

Apart from being within the largest national park in the world, this beautifully secluded municipality neighbour’s entry to the world’s largest and deepest multi-branched fjord system. Guests can make use of this by treating themselves to a local tall-ship ride, where they will sail past breathtaking icebergs and glaciers whilst on the lookout for seals and whales; other wildlife within the areas surrounding Ittoqqortoormiit include reindeer, musk oxen, walruses, birds and small game.

Remaining proudly traditional, the community maintains its hunting and fishing nature in order to survive. Guests can learn more about this peaceful remote location by visiting the Ittoqqortoormiit Museum. By being at a far distance from other towns and cities, they only offer one grocery shop and a couple of convenient stores for visitors to browse through.

According to Hotels.com, there has been a steady rise in the number of travellers gaining a desire to holiday in more remote areas, as internet searches for off-the-grid travel have seen an increase of 18 per cent within the past year. Specifically, searches for holidays to Greenland have seen a significant rise of more than 50 per cent in comparison to previous years.

“It’s truly spectacular and the best bit is, we’re picking up most of the room tab”, concluded Adam Jay proving that guests are in high-demand for this destination. The booking website has stated that they are prepared to pay up to 99 per cent of the overall cost for those willing to stay at the remote guesthouse throughout March 2019, proving that they are more than confident that this is a destination worth visiting.

Subject to very limited availability, considering how desirable this location is quickly becoming, booking for this peaceful getaway in March 2019 only, is available from now up until the 31st of December, 2018.
