Serving modern Indian dishes and situated in the centre of London’s historic city, Mint Leaf are a restaurant and cocktail bar that come together as one – catering to its metropolis situe. Combining authentic, seasonal Indian ingredients with contemporary cooking techniques, corporate encounters are frequent here – encouraging those who visit to slip from its cocktail bar to its partnering restaurant counterpart for long, liquid lunches, with Indian dishes to compliment.
With an à la carte menu, Mint Leaf also offers a variety of set menus which are created for larger group bookings and standing events. ‘Progressive Indian cuisine from all over the subcontinent, seasoned with delicate yet intricate marinades’ is how Mint Leaf describe their food. Utilising seasonal British produce wherever possible, the kitchen uses a traditional tandoor oven, charcoal grill and tawa hot plate to create dishes that are innovative and contemporary with a focus on being fresh and healthy.
Highlights here include appetisers including tempura squid tossed with pepper and sweet chilli drizzle, hand caught seared king scallops with coriander and a curry leaf chutney, Mahi Gulmarg – (salmon fillet with kasundi mustard, chilli, carom and dill onion raita) or Achari Bathak – (roast duck spiced in pickling spice served with date tamarind and apricot chutney). There is also a sharing grill selection as well as a larger grill platter for two, featuring a daily selection of their kebabs.
With ingredients sourced from land and sea, curries are favourably rich with a wide variety to choose from. From lamb rogan josh – (a braised leg of lamb with brown onion, tomato and Kashmiri chilli), Patrani Macchi – (sea bass wrapped in banana leaf with coriander, chilli and coconut) and even Bhuna Kargosh – (a pot roasted rabbit tossed with garlic, tomato, ginger and chilli) inspired from traditional meats eaten in India.
Side dishes range from Bhindi masala – (stir fried okra with onion cumin, onion and tomato), tandoori Broccoli with cheese, ginger and chilli as well as the regular favourite of Dal Tarka – (cumin and garlic tempered with a mix of yellow lentils). A selection of breads is also available from plain and stuffed cheese / potato & peshawari naans and an ever-changing chefs’ selection.
Looking beyond the food, Mint Leaf holds a lifestyle concept where its Indian dishes cater to its city centric dining catchment. An easy choice if you’re looking for a wide selection of Indian dishes from across the sub-continent alongside a strong selection of cocktails, wines, beers and spirits to pair.
