Brunch Review: VIVI Centre Point, 11 St Giles Square in London

An all-day destination restaurant, VIVI encapsulates a sixties revival in the newly redeveloped Centre Point building. Elevating its weekend offering, recently the restaurant launched a new series of DJ brunches. Offering diners bottomless bubbles in the heart of London’s West End with an eclectic collection of dishes and bottomless drinks, each weekend VIVI’s brunch is set to the soundtrack of live music from some of London’s most popular DJs.

A mix of crushed pinks with hues of teal, VIVI is finished with polished wood touches that create a chic 1960s backdrop which ensured it made a significant entrance into London’s restaurant scene earlier this year. Kicking off from 11:30am each Saturday with four sittings throughout the day, VIVI’s new brunch series is complete with a three-course feast which includes the go to smashed avocado on sourdough, whilst other dishes also include parmesan gnocchi and Hereford beef burger washed down with bottomless fizz. Music comes courtesy of ALR Music, with past DJs including Max Bennett, Charlie Weaver and Joel Evans – this September, VIVI’s series of DJ brunches will feature a mix of classic 90’s, disco, hip-hop, and RnB tracks.

Four zones make up VIVI – including The Dining Room, The Gallery, the Liquid Lounge and The Bar, each adapting themselves throughout the day. Beyond the new brunch menu, dishes are in keeping with the 1960s theme too; with contemporary twists to keep VIVI up to speed with our demanding modern palate. Think of your grandmother’s retro cookbook with a futuristic edge – from a rich and delicious twice baked Cheddar soufflé, chicken Kiev and mash or a fruity duck à l’orange with full on kitsch desserts including a Black Forest gateau, sherry trifle and apple & rhubarb crumble.

Inspired by the year in which Centre Point was built in 1966, VIVI (roman numerals for 66) was previously a conference space where Margaret Thatcher and Nelson Mandela once spoke. With big shoes to fill in terms of its space at the foot of Centre Point and once London’s tallest sky scraper when first built in the 1960s, Gordon Young Architects Ltd were tasked with recreating this 1960s inspired space, with an objective of capturing the essence of the decade.

From rhubarb (the creative team behind Sky Garden), it’s impossible to not open Instagram at VIVI. From extravagant cocktails topped with candy floss to its clever retro touches, this all-day dining destination has firmly marked its territory on our digital feeds.
