Why everyone should visit Las Vegas at least once in their lifetime

By LLM Reporters   |

Las Vegas is a city unrivalled throughout the world for it’s glitz, glamour, entertainment and pure, unadulterated fun. A place where travellers flock to for a few days of frivolity and to be left with a lifetime of memories they’ll either cherish or may want to forget (we’ve all seen The Hangover, no?), it’s certainly somewhere that will delight.

With a myriad of hotels, casinos, entertainment venues, fine-dining eateries, shopping opportunities and nightlife, it is surely a place to visit at least once in your life. From the likes of Lady Gaga to Bruno Mars and Aerosmith to Cher partaking in a residency at Park Theater at Park MGM and Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey and Lionel Ritchie making substantial appearances at other venues, this is a place that attracts the big names of the entertainment world. Yes, you can see these acts elsewhere, you can have great fun playing casino games online at the likes of star-vegas.lv, but it doesn’t quite compete with getting a taste of live performances and the experience and thrill of a real casino.

While it is a popular tourist destination, Vegas knows that it can’t stand still for too long, there’s too much money to be made, too many visitors and residents to entertain so new acts are announced, hotels are demolished and rebuilt at a surprising rate, all to keep this city doing what it does best – entertaining.

With a number of new hotels set to open in the next year alone we take a look at the latest introduction to the Vegas hotel scene to see what it takes to be a competitor in this ever-changing scene.

Park MGM, formerly the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino, is a 4-star hotel complex located on the Las Vegas strip that spent nearly two years being renovated before its opening in April last year. The 32 floor mega-resort offers multiple restaurants, a 100,000sq ft casino, spa, pools, salon, 5,200 seat arena (Park Theater), and even a separate boutique hotel (NoMad: Las Vegas) within its own walls. Located next to the 20,000-seat T-Mobile Arena as well as hosting their own major acts, Park MGM is tipped to be the place to stay when seeing the big faces of the music world.

There are over 2,500 rooms and suites at Park MGM Las Vegas offering amenities such as mini-bars, King or Queen size beds, Wi-Fi, separate living rooms, multiple TVs or wellness rooms and dog-friendly rooms. The modern rooms are decorated in a smart style with framed photographs and deep colours creating feature walls and opulent bathrooms. Stay Well rooms and suites are those that provide guests with a healthier environment to reside in throughout their stay and include specialized lighting, non-toxic cleaning products, aromatherapy oils, air purification and a shower infuser.

Avoid the queues with the self check-in service, ask the concierge for restaurant recommendations, spend in the pop-up shops, work out at the fitness centre or head to the spa and salon for a bit of self-care during your stay. During your desert stay don’t forget to visit the pool oasis, which consists of three pools, 12 cabanas, two bars, a heated hot tub, daybeds and plenty of loungers.

Party the night away at the super-trendy On The Record with its record store vibe, tasty cocktails and even hire the indoor and outdoor spaces for private events. If you fancy somewhere a little more low key then the Juniper Cocktail Lounge might just be the place for you. Decorated with sumptuous teal fabrics, dark wood and with low lighting creating that comfy lounge atmosphere, this is home to the largest collection of gin in the city and an array of craft cocktails.

The casino floor, which is open 24 hours daily, offers guests a choice of 900 games to play from video poker to craps to roulette and even a High Limits Slots room with a selection of 50 games in the comfortable and high-end atmosphere. Table games include craps, baccarat and blackjack.

Offering brunch and an all-day menu in a relaxed setting is Primrose, an outside space just beyond the lobby, visit for an all-you-can-drink sparkling rose brunch until 2pm or settle down with a burger in this casual space. Kick back at Bavette’s Steakhouse and Bar, a low lit, dark wood setting with French flair and fun at it’s core or grab some tasty noodles at La La Noodle. Dine and shop at Eataly, a spacious Italian marketplace or head to The Crack Shack for some gourmet fried chicken. The Nomad Restaurant offers delights such as steak tartare or oysters in an upmarket New York library style setting, while The Nomad Bar gives you live jazz at brunch on Sundays and late night snacks or suppers with your drinks.

The NoMad hotel brings with it a stronger sense of style and elegance with its boutique nature. Hosting a pool, casino, restaurant and bar in it’s own style, the hotel within a hotel concept is an interesting and successful one here.

Park MGM and NoMad offer everything you could possibly want from a hotel in Las Vegas, you need not actually leave the hotel with all of the entertainment and dining options on offer, but of course you’re in Las Vegas so get out there, explore the delights of this exciting place and make a memorable trip for yourself. The city may not be going anywhere any time soon but certainly going to change its appearance between visits.
