Mohegan unveils plan for luxury casino resort in Greece

By LLM Reporters   |

Now that we’re well into winter, the thought of a luxurious sunshine getaway is getting more and more attractive. What could be better than a short hop to Greece, where you can soak up some rays on the beach, take in some history and culture and enjoy some of the best food you’ll find in the Med?

Well, for the casino enthusiasts amongst us, there is one thing – a combination of both. Adding a little table-side action into the mix could be the icing on the cake when it comes to the sunshine break of dreams, and the good news is, the odds are now in your favour.

INSPIRE Athens – the first resort in the Hellinikon development, Athens, is set to open its doors in 2020, and promises to be all those things and more.

The brainchild of Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment (“MGE”), in partnership with GEK TERNA, this unique concept for the first Integrated Resort and Casino in Greece is, unsurprisingly, attracting plenty of attention amongst sun worshippers and casino lovers alike. This place is set to do big business within the luxury market – and Lloyd John at Maxfreebets.co.uk says that it’s a game changer for the casino industry in Greece.

He explained: “INSPIRE Athens is a hugely exciting concept for the casino industry, and particularly for Greece itself. This new development will help launch a new era of tourism growth and economic prosperity not just for Greece and the entire region, and is set to attract sun-seeking high-rollers from across the globe thanks to its top of the range casino offering and opulent accommodation and amenities.”

The resort comprises a luxury hotel, entertainment venues, and convention centre, plus a range of shopping and dining options and a comprehensive mix of premium amenities. The iconic design of the building was created by Steelman Partners, an international architectural firm specialising in IRC design and development. The concept form draws inspiration from the architectural history of Greece, particularly from Athenian sculptures and buildings including the Acropolis and the Caryatids.

Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment (MGE) has unveiled its concept ‘Inspire Athens’ a proposed integrated casino and resort development for Athens’ much anticipated Hellinikon Project

According to Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment, it is hoped that the resort will spark the development of the entire Hellinikon area into the affluent Athenian Riviera. Its iconic design is to set a new precedent for the area, with the potential to make it one of the most highly sought-after destinations in the country within just a few years.

With state-of-the-art meeting facilities, a multi-purpose indoor event space, and sprawling resort pools, INSPIRE Athens intends will marry world-class luxury hospitality and relentless entertainment in a way that’s never before been seen in the south of Europe.

The Greek affinity for the outdoors is expertly captured at INSPIRE to give guests an authentic cultural experience. Virtually all of the resort’s restaurants, bars, lounges, and nightclubs offer both indoor and outdoor experiences, while the collection of food, beverage, and retail outlets includes encompasses local cuisine and brands alongside internationally recognised names.

GEK TERNA won a competitive tender to build and operate the resort’s luxurious casino within the 8 billion-euro tourist resort for the next 30 years, fending off stiff competition from the likes of the Hard Rock Resorts and other big name brands. The casino will sprawl over more than 1.2 hectares, with at least 120 gaming tables and 1,200 slot machines.

INSPIRE Athens intends to be southern Europe’s centre for A-list music concerts, theatrical performances, major sporting events, and other arts and cultural activities on a weekly basis and it is hoped that the development will create more than 7,000 jobs in the region during and after construction. The completion of the Integrated Resort and Casino is expected to increase international tourism in the Attica region by at least 10%, and will contribute millions of euros annually to both the government and the people of Greece in the form of taxes, infrastructure improvement, and public services.

Although there is still some way to go until this lavish resort opens its doors, progress is now underway – and here at Luxury Lifestyle Magazine, we can’t wait to see the finished result. Set to be part of one of the most opulent holiday developments ever seen in mainland Greece, we’re expecting something pretty special – and with a casino to rival all others in the country, it’s bound to attract high-rollers from across the globe.

So, if you’re looking for a little R&R in the new year, then hold your horses – because INSPIRE Athens is going to be more than worth the wait.
