Porsche has unveiled the second member of its new 992-generation 911 family: the new 911 Cabriolet.
Joining the coupe version in the marque’s latest 911 line-up, launched back in November 2018, the Cabriolet model swaps the standard car’s hard-top roof for a retractible soft-top version.
And this roof can be raised or lowered in just under 12 seconds while driving at speeds of up to 31mph, the Stuggart based car manufactuer said in a press statement.
Porsche is also boasting that the roof’s design will offer an integrated glass rear window and technology that will prevent it from ballooning at higher speeds. There’s also an electrically extendable wind deflector that can be deployed when the roof is down.
The new 911 Cabriolet is proposed in Carrera S and Carrera 4S versions. Both models promise top speeds of more than 300km/h and can reach 0-100km/h in under four seconds (3.6 seconds for the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet with the optional Sport Chrono Package).
Like the coupé, this Porsche 911 Cabriolet is fitted with a high tech collision warning and brake assist system, as well as a super impressive ‘Wet Mode’, which has the ability to detect surface water on the road, precondition the control systems accordingly and then inform the driver.
The first cabriolet version of the 911 was introduced back in 1982 following its unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor Show the year before.
The new models are now available to order from Porsche Centres in the UK and Ireland. The 911 Carrera S Cabriolet is priced from £102,755 and the 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet from £108,063.
