Right in time for sunny spring drinks is the ‘Springtime in Cognac Cocktail’ by Frapin, the renowned Cognac producer that’s based in Segonzac, found within the heart of the Grande Champagne region of France.
Here, the Frapin 1270 cognac, which has been exclusively harvested, distilled, and aged at the family estate, has been combined with sweet honey, strawberry, and pink fizz, along with sharp lemon juice for a balanced, long drink. Just add sunshine.
Ingredients
4 cl Cognac Frapin 1270 1er Cru Cognac
1.5 cl Lemon juice
1.5 cl Honey syrup (equal parts of honey and water)
Sparkling blanc or rosé
1 candied strawberry
Method
1. Mix the strawberry and add the Frapin 1270 Cognac, lemon and honey syrup in a cocktail shaker. If you don’t have honey syrup to hand, it’s easy to make, just heat up equal amounts of honey and water and stir to mix.
2. Shake and strain the liquid into a cocktail glass.
3. Top the glass up with a sparkling fizz. For a blanc version, try the Sharpham Sparkling Blanc Brut which has a soft, long finish, and citrus notes that complements the existing lemon flavour. Alternatively, top up with a rosé fizz such as the Corte Molino Prosecco Rosé for a berry hit that’ll ramp up the strawberry appeal, or the Veuve Monsigny Champagne Rosé for a berry taste that’s a little crisper.
4. Garnish with a strawberry.
