From vibrant interiors to top-of-the-range wines and, of course, great food to match, what more could any diner want from their experience? Well a celeb-spot wouldn’t go amiss, and if this is your bag then fear not, as there are a range of ravishing restaurants across the city where you can do just that.
Eating in London, which helps you find the best restaurants in London town, brings you a review of the best places to dine at some of London’s most renowned celebrity restaurants. From 34 Mayfair and its A-list clientele, to Petersham Nurseries, where famous faces prop up amongst the foliage to enjoy fine fare, cups of tea, and cake, these are the hot spots you’ll need to visit in order to bag yourself that autograph or star-studded selfie.
Amazonico
Spotting the stars is a likely game to play while dining at Amazonico, situated in the heart of Berkeley Square. This vibrant haunt opened in 2010, by husband and wife team and renowned restauranteurs, Sandra Silva and Marta Seco.
From actors looking for cultural diversity in their food to the cast of The Only Way Is Essex gathering for drinks before a sumptuous meal, there’s usually someone recognisable stepping through the door.
The stylish restaurant expertly pairs together the culture and gastronomic heritage of the Amazon region to deliver sensational dishes, all in the trappings of a venue brought to life by rainforest-inspired lush greenery; the brainchild of renowned artist Lazaro Rosa-Violan. Making the experience a little bit more special, nightly jazz performers entertain diners as they consume the likes of sushi, sashimi, grilled octopus, and other delights.
Chucs
A trip to Chucs will see you feasting on fine Italian fare, and if it’s good enough for Meghan Markle then we’re sure it could be good enough for you, too. Yes, Meghan dined at the Notting Hill eatery while attending a meeting, but if you’re not in the area then perhaps you could visit the one in Harrods, the Serpentine, or Dover Street. Whichever venue you choose, you’ll be greeted with cocktails and lip-smackingly good Italian dishes.
34 Mayfair
34 Mayfair really is a spectacular haunt. The stylish venue, which sits just off Park Lane, offers up hearty and tasty dishes including Japanese Wagyu, and steak tartare with Perigord truffle. Not only is the food exquisite but so too, are the interiors; with guests dining in a room filled with contemporary art and polished oak parquet. Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Moss, Joe Jonas, and Pharrell Williams are amongst just some of the famous faces to have experienced the charm of 34 Mayfair.
Petersham Nurseries
The Richmond site of Petersham Nurseries is not only beautiful, but it’s a celebrity haunt like no other. Madonna, Mick Jagger, Ryan Reynolds, and Blake Lively are just some of the famous faces to have graced this garden restaurant. The upscale restaurants in London sit beside a teahouse and garden centre, and it’s set within a glasshouse festooned with bougainvillea and fragrant jasmine – making it the ideal spot for a photo, too. You’ll feast on Italian food and, in the teahouse, you can enjoy seasonal dishes, including fresh salads, homemade cakes, and whole leaf teas.
STK
Often described as a ‘steakhouse for the stiletto set’, STK is attached to the ME Hotel where Aldwych abuts The Strand. It’s a total celeb hot spot and if you’re prone to the occasional scroll on Instagram, you may well see showbiz faces posing for photos in this coveted eatery. Inside, you’ll find popping purple neon lights, booths full of Champers-swiggers, and florals snaking around a light display that looks an awful lot like a jellyfish!
You can pull up a pew at the bar for an aperitif and chase it down with one of many seriously good steaks on the menu. You’ll find the finest USDA grade steaks, with a man versus food style menu of American snake river wagyu sirloin, beef short rib, and more. Oh, and tying their Lil BRGS is a total must – an STK staple.
Sketch
There are many reasons why you should visit Sketch; the food, the interiors, the ambiance and, of course, the celebs. Sketch is a unique venue that sits in Mayfair, and it’s housed within a three-storey Georgian townhouse, with an inviting glow billowing out of the windows. The cosy yet lavish spot opened in 2003 by the hand of restaurateur Mourad Mazouz, and boy are we glad he decided to open it.
Inside, there is an abundance of quirky and eccentric artwork, and blush pink covers wrapped about the armchairs. However, when you’re not wining and dining, be sure to check out the iconic toilets with some of the most other-worldly cubicles you’ve ever seen! Keep your eyes peeled for celebs, as they love this venue and it’s no surprise as to why.
Chiltern Firehouse
Chiltern Firehouse is somewhat iconic when it comes to celebrity spotting, with the likes of David Beckham, Bradley Cooper, Noel Gallagher, and Jennifer Lawrence being just some of the famous names spotted there. You can get yourself one of the hottest tables in town, but booking ahead is usually recommended unless you arrive with an Oscar in hand. The luxury hotel resides in Marylebone where you fill your belly with contemporary, ingredient-focused cooking with an underlying American accent, which will have you coming back for more, we’re sure.
Scott’s
Scott’s positively oozes sophistication, and it has been attracting A-list clientele for years, after opening as an oyster warehouse back in 1851. The likes of Kate Moss, Nigella Lawson, Rod Stewart and Stephen Spielberg have pulled up a seat at this classy eatery which is perhaps unsurprising given the food is absolutely spectacular.
Head chef David McCarthy creates seasonal menus, serving traditional fish and shellfish, meat and seasonal game favourites and, of course, oysters at the elegant Champagne bar.
Sexy Fish
It doesn’t get much sexier than Sexy Fish. The restaurant is aesthetically beautiful, and it has a VIP status after celebrities including Jennifer Lawrence, Nicole Scherzinger, Kendall Jenner, and more graced it with their presence. At this opulent favourite you can expect a classy atmosphere, a unique Asian-inspired menu that includes sashimi, tempura, tartare, black cod miso, and much more.
Sexy Fish also provides perfect photo opportunities, especially with the mural created by Michael Roberts, the fashion and style director at Vanity Fair.
The Coal Office
The Coal Office is the perfect spot for enjoying Middle Eastern and Mediterranean-inspired dishes by the renowned chef, Assaf Granit. Tom Dixon’s designer spot offers up characteristic interiors and a breath-taking terrace, so it’s perhaps no surprise why celebrities love it.
