Virgin Limited Edition Collection is Sir Richard Branson’s private collection of luxury retreats, which includes his very own Necker Island retreat and a 32 metre luxury catamaran in the British Virgin Islands, a luxurious mountain retreat in Verbier, an exotic safari retreat in South Africa and a private members club in the heart of our very own Kensington, London.
The Roof Gardens is London’s only rooftop private members club. Open on Friday and Saturday between 10pm-3am and located just off Kensington High Street is one of London’s hottest nightclubs. It is obvious to see why it was voted the ‘Best Club in Chelsea’ in the 2016 Design My Night Awards; this swanky over 21’s only joint oozes style and class. Located on the 6th floor of a building in central Kensington amidst 1.5 acres of beautiful rooftop gardens, this was the perfect venue to host the members of BENLAKE.LONDON for our first party of the year.
One of the benefits of being a member of BENLAKE.LONDON, is being invited at least three times a year to exclusive Members Only nights out such as this. A VIP table had been reserved which included watering cans of punch, magnums of champagne, vodka and wine – surely we were in for a fun night! There is a dedicated entrance for members of The Roof Gardens and those with a VIP table booked. Once arriving we were quickly ushered past the long queue and escorted in the lift to the 6th floor. As the lift doors open on the rooftop the soundwaves of house music from the DJ filled the air. We were walked through the already heaving dance floor to the cornered off lounge area to be greeted by the hosts. Long white tassels separate the VIP area and the rest of dance floor and bars in the main room, just enough to keep you in the mix with the rest of the club but also so you can stretch out and relax with friends away from the busy dance floor. Surrounded by dapper men and beautiful women and the odd celebrity, it is clear that this is a special place to hang out and spend a Friday or Saturday night of indulgent clubbing.
Wander the rest of the club and you realize you need more than just one night to enjoy every crevice of the 1.5 acres. There is The Spanish Hideaway – a fully heated VIP outdoor area which overlooks the Spanish Gardens, The Silver Bar – a separate swanky bar that can take groups up to 400 people, The Moo Room – a cow-inspired VIP space, The Spanish Veranda – a sexy outdoor space which is perfect for when the club holds events with spectacular firework displays and The Red Room – another VIP room, ideal for a private party.
The classy and attentive waitresses were exceptional and made the evening extra special. There is only bottle service in the VIP area, and with a menu ranging from standard size bottles of Grey Goose for £215.00 to a Jeroboam size for £870.00 and watering cans full of punch from £90-£130 to Magnums of Perrier Jouet for £825 you are sure not to be short of a variety of tasty tipples to entertain your party.
Private Membership is a steal at £400 a year which entitles you to fast track VIP entry queue, complimentary entry for you and three guests to The Club, a complimentary bottle of champagne for your first VIP table reservation and on your birthday, an invitation to two exclusive members’ events a year, free entry to the Halloween event and One Day events, 20% off when dining in Babylon Restaurant (located in the same building), personal emails from a dedicated membership team and advanced booking and Member rates for Summer BBQs, and 20% off VIP reservations. The dress code is ‘no effort, no entry’ and VIP tables start from a minimum spend of £500.
The Roof Gardens is now one of my favourite late night hangouts in London.
