This restaurant stands out as India’s premier fine-dining establishment that mirrors the elegance of a Sheesh Mahal, or a mirror palace, in its own unique way. This ode to the Sheesh Mahal of Amer fort captures the essence of traditional Rajasthani architecture, adorned with arches, jharokhas, and an impressive array of over three-and-a-half lakh mirrors meticulously arranged in intricate designs. While the focus isn’t solely on the food, the carefully crafted menu showcases heirloom recipes from Rajasthan. Imagine being treated to signature dishes served on silver chaumukhas, with chefs narrating the history and origins of each culinary masterpiece. This attention to detail extends to the specially designed silver thalis, a nod to Rajputana legacy. Delve into a culinary journey with two distinct thali options – the Rajasthani and Mughlai thali, each offering a taste of royal heritage. This curated dining experience seamlessly weaves together history, tradition, and gastronomy, making every visit truly unforgettable.

Indulge in a culinary journey with the Rajasthani thali featuring a mix of traditional delights like Murgh Makkai ka Soweta, Safed Maas, Sil Batte ke Kabab, Ker ke Shammi, and the iconic Laal Maas. The Mughlai thali offers a taste of royal Mughal influence with exquisite dishes such as Galaouti Kebab, Balai ka Jheenga, Kundan Kalia, and Dum ki Nalli, curated to delight every guest. To add a dash of variety, Mamgain includes these rich Mughlai flavours in a special mukhwas served as a parting gift.

Guests receive fragrant potlis filled with this aromatic mix, complementing the elegant Mohan Mahal decor. They also depart with personalised gift packs of neroli candles, a thoughtful touch embodying cherished memories of their visit. An unforgettable token that promises lasting reminiscence for all who dine at this regal establishment.

Journey through Rajasthan’s elegance

The Leela Palace Jaipur
Nestled in Nahargarh Fort, Mohan Mahal at The Leela Palace Jaipur is an architectural gem

Before departing, I had the chance to pay homage to the intricacies of the hotel’s design during a curated tour of Jaipur’s forts and palaces, accompanied by a traditional Rajasthani picnic tiffin. The resort’s charming on-site temple reminiscent of Goddess Amba at Amer Fort, the enchanting Mohan Mahal with its intricate mirror-work and cascading fountains evoking the grandeur of Sheesh Mahal, and the all-day diner adorned with a vibrant 16-panel painting depicting Jal Mahal – all harmoniously encapsulated my journey. It felt as though I had come full circle, immersing myself in the rich cultural tapestry woven throughout my stay at this remarkable resort palace.
