Restaurant Review: Palm Beach Casino, Mayfair in London

Luxury isn’t simply defined by personalisation but also the opportunity for choice. Take one look at the menu at Palm Beach Casino and its clear to see that its USP is offering diners a vast variety of dishes that can be easily mixed and matched on an international scale. The restaurant here may well be one of the only spots in town where you can to start with chargrilled asparagus or seared king scallops before moving onto saag paneer or a Middle Eastern grill platter.

From pasta dishes including penne arrabiata, steaks such as 16oz T-bone and veal chop and fish options including pan-fried sea bass or whole dover sole; this menu also extends to Middle Eastern options such as truffled hummus and shish tauok to exotic Chinese vegetable gyozas and crispy shredded aromatic duck. The shining light at Palm Beach Casino however is its Indian food. Overseen by award-winning executive chef, Mahmud Zaman – his passion for south Asian cuisine is a must try. Choose from starters, such as aloo tikka chaat with tamarind sauce; kale pakoras with Indian salad, or three lentil soup with coriander and fried onions, followed by a main of achari paneer tikka with spices, pepper and onions, tandoori lamb chops or spicy king prawn Madras.

Whether you’re into the casino element or not, this restaurant at Palm Beach Casino is certainly worth a visit. Ideal for groups who can’t decide what they want, here there really is something for everyone, for instance I started with an Italian burrata before moving onto an Indian Madras with lamb, (curries can be ordered to personal preference with either vegetables, chicken, lamb or with king prawns). With Indian sides – choose from naan breads, tandoor chapati and dal makhani.

With a 24-hour licence, the cocktail bar invites guests to swing by at any time of the day whether it’s for a pre-theatre drink or a late-night party. Choose from vintage champagne and classic or cocktails such as the Tiki Beats (made with Mount Gay rum, St Germain, passion fruit, lime and a hint of chilli), Lapsang Light (incorporating Lapsang tea-infused Tanqueray gin, Chambord, lemon juice, egg white and raspberry) and the American Kiss (a martini made with Maker’s mark whiskey, Chambord, pineapple and raspberry). A bar menu is also available at anytime of the day, whilst DJs provide the party on Friday and Saturday nights.
