Curry and whiskey – what a dream combination, and now the proprietor of much-loved Cornish Tiger, Zia Trench has opened the pop-up, Tiger Dram which can be found just at the back of the restaurant.
Open Tuesday through to Saturday, from 6pm to 11pm it is the perfect place to enjoy the very best curry in London, all paired with a huge array of artisan whiskies.
Hidden and with its very own address of ¾ Battersea Rise, Tiger Dram can only be accessed via a secret entrance to the back of Cornish Tiger. And even after you manage to find the right way in you have to rub the Buddha’s belly before you are granted access! It had a friendly, welcoming atmosphere with attentive staff and seats 25 diners.
Once found, a variety of delicious Indian tapas dishes are available (made from ethically and locally sourced ingredients) such as small plates of deconstructed curry the likes of which you may never have seen or tasted!
Try the goat to start and for main there are tons of curry options that include: vegetable, lamb, chicken, fish and the traditional Indian favourite keema. Obviously, a naan is a must try, with there being a different version every month (try the blue cheese, onion seeds and truffle oil naan).
For refreshments staff are all too happy to advise on whiskey pairings; each one has its own distinctive character and comes from top producers so it doesn’t fail to disappoint. Wine and craft ales are also available if you want something a little less powerful. Finally, if you have room, it is recommended to try the rice pudding!
An added bonus – if you are lucky enough to be sat next to the little Buddha, you’ll be given the chance to roll some dice… Throw two sixes and Tiger Dram will cover your bill (excluding drinks)!
