The popular chef opened the hotel’s new fine dining restaurant with an exclusive dinner on Thursday 29th October at the luxury Alice in Wonderland-themed establishment. He has promised to use as much locally sourced produce as possibe.
Commenting on his new role, Anton said: “The Glazebrook is a Devon hotel which is in its own league. Owners Pieter and Fran Hamman have brought style and creativity to the region that has not been seen before. The fit between what the Glazebrook House Hotel stands for and what I stand for as a chef is perfect! Together we can put Devon on the map for both seasoned travellers & fanatical foodies, delivering an experience they’ll never forget. Add to this the fact we will continue to ensure that the produce we use is sourced locally and regionally, then overall we have a recipe for success.”
Pieter Hamman, owner of the Glazebrook, added: “We were delighted with how the official launch evening went.” He continues: “I’ve been a great fan of Anton’s cooking for a long time. When we moved to the county the Treby Arms was one of the first pubs we went to and we have become regulars since. We’re so excited to have him on board and think he will be an incredible addition, overseeing the already dedicated and hardworking team in the kitchen here at the Glazebrook.”
Anton grew up in Devon where he developed his passion for food. He trained in Plymouth, developed his skills in some of the country’s top restaurants and then returned to Devon with his wife Clare to open the Treby Arms in the small Devon village of Sparkwell. In 2012, he found culinary fame winning MasterChef: The Professionals, and was awarded the highly regarded Michelin star in 2014.
The Glazebrook House Hotel was recently listed in the Sunday Times’ Ultimate 100 British Hotels, and has recently been recognised as one of only three finalists by the prestigious 2016 Condé Nast Johansens’ Awards for Excellence, in their ‘small and exclusive’ category. This luxury hotel has also been nominated as one of three finalists in the Devon Life Food and Drink Awards’ shortlist for having the ‘best hotel restaurant’ in Devon. Additionally, LandLove magazine has included Glazebrook House Hotel as a finalist in their award for ‘Britain’s favourite place to eat’.
