Legendary reggae band UB40 are launching a new limited edition cuvée of red wine to celebrate the highly anticipated release of their upcoming album ‘Unplugged’ on November 18.
The popular group, who have sold more than 70 million records worldwide, have joined forces with industry experts Eminent Life to produce the very special tipple, aptly named ‘Red Red Wine Bordeaux Supérieur’.
Produced from a subtle blend of two grape varieties, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, this cuvée represents a perfect expression of the two varieties used in Bordeaux.
The brains behind the new wine are describing it as “a deep colour Red fruit with some blackberry notes, enriched with ripe tannins, with a long and elegant finish”.
Vinified especially for UB40, ‘Red Red Wine 2014’ is a wine that is meant to be appreciated within the first few years after bottling, and can be cellared for up to 15 years.
Founding UB40 members, vocalist Ali Campbell, second vocalist Astro and keyboardist Mickey Virtue, have come together to release the new album.
It will be an acoustic collection of some of the band’s biggest hits including ‘I Got You Babe’ which features Campbell’s daughter Kaya, as well as big hits ‘Red Red Wine’, and ‘Baby Come Back’.
The trio said they were confident the cuvée would go down well with both fans and wine lovers alike.
Ali explained: “We have always wanted to release our own red red wine and we’re very excited to finally be doing this!”
Astro also spoke proudly of the wine, commenting: “This Bordeaux is really special and we think you will love it too!”
