South Korean electronics giant Samsung has unveiled a super high end 98-inch 8K television.
The TV measures nearly 8 feet and two inches from corner to corner and utilises a specially designed Quantum Processor 8K chip that works on AI-based tech.
It was announced to the world at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas earlier this month.
Samsung said it will be the largest model in its line of 8K TVs which also includes 65-inch (165cm), 75-inch (190cm), 82-inch (208cm) and 85-inch (215cm) versions.
The company claims its new 98-inch TV will offer ‘near pristine’ 8K quality and will support native 8K content via the HDMI 2.1 spec when it becomes available.
“Embedded with the Quantum Processor 8K chip, the 2019 8K line delivers the best in QLED picture quality, design, smart features in more sizes than ever in stunning 8K resolution,” Samsung said in a statement.
“Whether a viewer is watching content through a streaming service, set-top box, HDMI, USB or even mobile screen mirroring, Samsung’s proprietary AI-based technology can recognize and upscale any content, regardless of the native resolution, to near pristine 8K quality.
“This is Samsung’s smartest and most powerful TV yet.”
The firm has yet to announce a price for its marque product but its previously announced 85-inch 8K TV costs £15,000 and its 98-inch (248cm) 4K TV currently retails at nearly than £14,000 in the UK.
