If you’ve yet to give your bedroom a refresh for 2023 then with spring just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to do so. And, now that the year is well underway, it’s even easier to spot the emerging luxury trends worth taking note of.
Like last year, 2023 is all about creating a welcoming space in your bedroom that makes you feel right at home and that you can’t wait to get back to each evening, with wellness still a central focus and supporting quality sleep as a key concern. But things are shifting up a gear compared to last year, and as well as nourishing our souls, it’s now all about boosting energy and mood while maintaining the right level of calm. All natural
As we continue to embrace a more sustainable way of living, it’s perhaps unsurprising that this will remain a key influence in our design choices throughout 2023, and a move towards natural materials in particular is already emerging as a trend.
But this isn’t the only reason we’re making the transition, as we’re also placing a greater emphasis on health and looking to make better decisions with that in mind – from chemical-nasty-free paints and finish-free nightstands and wardrobes to all-natural bedding materials like 100 percent cotton or linen. With the latter also shown to be better at regulating body temperature at night than synthetic alternatives, it’s a win win to make the switch, as you could soon find yourself enjoying a more restful night’s sleep as an added bonus.
Mood-boosting hues
Modern life can be stressful, sometimes leaving us with a low mood – and in 2023 it seems we’ll take all we can get to boost our mood and increase an overall sense of positivity. Calming colours have been big news over the past couple of years, spurred on in part by the pandemic, but now they are making way for brighter and bolder pops of colours.
Whilst there’s no denying that making your bedroom a haven of tranquillity comes with its benefits, bright colours have been shown to boost both energy and mood, which is just what you need when you have to get out of bed in the morning. But, as always, when it comes to maintaining a luxurious look and feel, remember that less is more – so rather than going wild and painting all four walls hot pink or neon yellow, pick just one wall and keep the others neutral, adding extra dashes of colour with your accessories and accent pieces.
Comforting textures
Can’t decide whether you want your space to feel calming or energising after all? Thankfully, there’s a way to get the best of both worlds, and if you’ve gone for bright décor then you can add a sense of cosiness and soothe those frazzled nerves with comforting textures instead.
Layering up chunky knit throws with soft, silky cushions or combining other fabrics you love can instantly help to create a zen-like feel that brings you back to yourself when you need it the most. Choose textures that immediately inspire a sense of relaxation and cosy calm and you’ll look forward to snuggling up in your bedroom each evening.
Art Deco, again
Art Deco often feels like a trend that never falls out of favour, and that’s because it is – but each time we revisit it, there are some subtle differences in how and where it is applied.
For 2023, it’s once again about adding a touch of glamour to your bedroom, but in a more minimalistic and pared down way. Adding stand out Art Deco inspired features in jewel tones against a muted, neutral backdrop instantly exudes a sense of luxury and opulence, and best of all, it’s a look that couldn’t be easier to achieve by adding a few carefully selected accessories and accent pieces alone. From statement chairs to gorgeous cushions or a sumptuous deep pile rug, a touch here and there is all it takes, and you’ll feel like royalty each time you walk through the door.
