As part of their expansion and love of all things for the home, leading retailer Holloways of Ludlow have just announced the opening of their dedicated luxury lifestyle interior shop ‘Holloways of Ludlow Home’ in the beautiful village of Brasted, Kent to coincide with their 30th birthday anniversary celebration this year.
Holloways of Ludlow’s Home Buyer, Michelle Alger and Director, Mark Holloway created the idea of developing the brand by finding the perfect location for their interiors shop in the heart of the village of Brasted. The unique property is the oldest house in the high street, dating back to 1480, and was chosen for its period features and roadside location. It has now been sympathetically re-designed to showcase their range of handpicked interior products.
Michelle, whose impressive career credentials as Head of Home for Heals and Senior buyer for leading retailers including Liberty, Paul Smith, The White Company, and Ralph Lauren Home, will lead the creative direction and product lines for Holloways of Ludlow Home drawing on her extensive knowledge and contacts for seeking out some of the world’s best product designers not seen on the high-street.
Michelle has handpicked a shortlist of products for the home and giftware from her favourite variety of established and handmade artisan designers from around the world including tableware, kitchenware, glassware, ceramics, lighting, home fragrance, textiles, and furniture that will excite consumers who love to find the best ‘hidden secrets’ in home design. Michelle and Mark will be also be offering a sourcing service to customers that are looking for something special.
Textiles on offer include cushions and throws from Stockholm based Simon Key Bertman. His sharp eye for pattern, texture and colour in his work has received considerable recognition over the past few years. Drawing inspiration from two of his ancestors, writer and educator Ellen Key and renowned Swedish expressionist Isaac Grünewald, Bertman’s dynamically patterned textiles bring instant movement to any space with their fascinating play with form and colour.
For the kitchen, the handcrafted ‘Seagate’ collection from US homeware brand, Canvas Home has been chosen as part of their porcelain range. Inspired by the colours of the beach, this organic collection of ceramics has captured the vivid blues of water and the neutral tones of sand using a special rubbed glaze on stoneware to create both a striking, yet timeless collection for the home. To complement the dining table, a range of Hurricane vases, glassware, jugs and wine coolers have also been selected also from Canvas Home. Ranges from £9.00. In contrast, everyday vintage enamelware such as the Grey Splatter range from Crow Canyon Home will bring a contemporary feel to any table setting and starts from £10.00.
A tactile range of chopping boards and platters made from British Sycamore also form part of Michelle’s curated homeware collection in the shop, which are also ideal as a gift or for doubling up as an interesting cheeseboard at a dinner party. Priced from £20.00.
For those looking for an unusual present for those that have everything, StoryTiles designed by Dutch designer Marga van Oers are a perfect choice. The miniature pieces of art on tiles, based on the Dutch Whites, feature Intricately detailed and humorous collages which each tell their own individual story. Priced at £40.00 each.
Michelle has even sourced beautiful products for the most practical everyday jobs in the kitchen. For example, Washing-up liquid dispensers scented with 100% pure essential oil scents such as Bergamot and Lavender have been chosen from Californian company, Common Good. Priced from £12.00.
She said: “I am delighted to expand the Holloways of Ludlow brand with their own dedicated lifestyle interiors concept shop.
