Championing exquisite design and unparalleled British craftsmanship are Britain’s leading luxury designers Linley who have recently revealed their new Odyssey Kitchen in Harrods. The first in decades to be fully functioning within the iconic department store, this sumptuous new kitchen has been designed to exceed the high standards of any professional chef or home cook. Currently residing in the Kitchen and Household department on the third floor – it is truly a distinguished piece of design showcasing Linley’s opulent British style with the use of colour palette, materials and textures that are sophisticated and eclectic.
Making it one of the world’s most luxurious, the finest bespoke embellishments have been used to create this distinguished new kitchen. The elegant upper and island cabinetry has been crafted with figured grey eucalyptus framework and a sycamore inlay, whilst a pair of bronzed-glass display cabinets are positioned on either side of the sink along a striking Bolivian marble worktop showcasing distinctive blue and gold ripples which has been woven throughout the design. Figured grey and brown eucalyptus veneers adorn the push-pull upper cabinetry, whilst the lower units feature minimalist brass handles unique to The Odyssey with a blend hand-dyed veneers and peerless marquetry with exotic marble surfaces, rich walnut internals and illuminated glass panels.
Achieving a warm aesthetic with the generous use of timber, bespoke brass accents and integrated lighting accentuate classic details, whilst simultaneously showcasing the quality of materials and craftsmanship. Incorporating push-to-open drawers crafted from figured-eucalyptus veneers dyed in the iconic ‘Linley blue’ – the island houses a wine-conditioning unit and pop-up electrical sockets, seamlessly integrated within the marble work-surface.
Offering an array of signature kitchen designs and bespoke furniture options to suit every requirement, Linley’s in-house designers guide clients through the creative process to achieve a supreme result that is tailored to the vision and the personality of the client. Founder and chairman David Linley told LLM: “A kitchen has to be a place you can feel at home and relaxed, but also somewhere a chef can use with great pleasure, this new Odyssey kitchen truly represents this ethos.”
In 1982, David started to design, make and sell fine furniture to private clients. His passion for people, design, and the pursuit of excellence continue to be the driving force of the business and today Linley has grown from private commissions to include retail furniture, gifts and accessories, interior design, and fitted kitchens and cabinetry. Time-honoured cabinet-making techniques have been a trademark of theirs since the company’s beginnings. The capacity to offer fitted furniture was a natural extension of the company and the fitted babinetry and kitchens division articulates the same values that have made their furniture internationally renowned.
Working the very best designers, craftspeople and materials, their added ‘secret ingredient’ is their bespoke and individual approach. Founded on private commissions, Linley work with the view that every purchase – whether buying an oak doorstop or commissioning a kitchen, is a personal experience from start to finish and is genuinely unique.
