Kokema Design, a distinguished Helsinki-based boutique design studio specialising in interior and architectural design, has announced its remarkable victory at the prestigious Luxury Lifestyle Awards (LLA). The studio has been recognised in the category of Best Luxury Office Interior Design for its outstanding work on the Finnish Bar Association office project in Finland.
Founded in 2013 by the visionary Sabina Dontcheff, Kokema Design has been at the forefront of creating unique and captivating spaces for both the public and private sectors. The studio’s core philosophy revolves around providing experiences through spaces that reflect the individuality of the people who inhabit them.
The award-winning project, the Finnish Bar Association office, presented Kokema Design with the challenging task of designing new, representative premises. The scope of the project included an entrance hall and reception desk, auditoriums and conference rooms, lounge spaces, work rooms, and a staff cafeteria.
Kokema Design played an integral role in this project by providing a comprehensive range of services. Their responsibilities included editing the floor plan according to the new space program, meticulous selection and determination of surface materials, lighting planning, and the integration of building technology and AV technology into interior design solutions. Working closely with HVAC, Electricity, and AV planners ensured a seamless execution of the project.
Furthermore, the Finnish Bar Association office project aligns perfectly with Kokema Design’s commitment to sustainability. The predominant use of Fantoni acoustic panels, which have a LEED certificate, and LED-based lighting demonstrates their environmentally conscious approach. Moreover, the floor material made from 97 per cent vinyl is fully recyclable, contributing to a greener future. The studio’s dedication to organising garbage sorting and reusing existing client furniture showcases its unwavering commitment to environmentally friendly practices.
What sets Kokema Design apart is their commitment to northern minimalism, where they harmoniously combined a few carefully chosen materials and colors with functional and spectacular lighting. The main material used, the Fantoni lamellar acoustic board, graces both the ceiling and walls, creating a sense of unity and elegance. Complementing the aesthetic are brass details that add a touch of luxury, while the black color helps in organising and defining the space. Additionally, a light floor made of woven vinyl carpet illuminates the area, exuding an inviting ambiance.
