Founded by Shavata Singh, her namesake studio is the ultimate beauty pampering destination for your beauty needs from brows to lashes, nails, and waxing. Many others think so too as the company has won multiple awards and grown significantly since it launched in 2004.
Not only does Shavata hold flagship studios in London, but the glamorous outposts can also be found in Reading, Richmond, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Belfast and there’s plenty more (see on their website for all their locations in the UK).
We catch up with Shavata, to discuss her love for the industry, which is still going strong 32 years later!
Tell us about your background…
It all began when I was a therapist at Michael John Mayfair where I developed a following for my eyebrow shaping by providing salon clients, who would normally be getting a facial, with complimentary brow threading. I was the only threader at the salon. My big break was when, a now ex, British Vogue editor came in for a facial. I offered her a brow shape by threading something that was, at the time, a less appreciated aspect of beauty and promised her that the brow shape would give a non-surgical “face-lift” in less than 15 minutes! She was so pleased with the results that she published an article about her more youthful appearance, which was my first ever press coverage. Soon after, Harrods approached me to offer a concession space and it was then that The Brow Studio was launched. From then, the business has been going from strength to strength and we have over 20 locations nationwide in selected Harvey Nichols, John Lewis and House of Fraser stores plus flagship boutiques in Knightsbridge and Chiswick.
What is it about the beauty industry that you love?
Everything about it. I have been in this industry for over 32 years, I think its now in my DNA! It is an industry I will never divert from. Despite the hurdles, my love for the industry grows.
Tell us about your offering…
The Shavata Studios specialize in brows and lashes nationwide, offering expert brow shaping, facial threading, brow and lash tinting, and semi-permanent lash extension treatments. Semi-permanent brow makeup, nails and waxing are also available in selected studios across the UK. I have also personally developed a specialist line of products, including the award-winning Defining Pencil, Brow and Lash Strand Red Sable Brush. These have been carefully crafted to the highest quality so that clients can to groom their brows in between appointments.
Do you have a favourite?
My favourite product has to be the Brow and Lash Strengthener. It’s made from 100% cold-pressed organic castor oil and makes your lashes thicker and shinier. My favourite treatment is the brow tint. I love having it done and also carrying out the treatment on clients. I highly recommend it for people with fine hairs to enhance the appearance of your eyes and brows for a “natural finish”.
What has been your career highlight to date?
My career highlight has to be opening up my studios in Knightsbridge (Beauchamp Place) and in Chiswick. It feels great to say, with a lot of competition out there, I’ve managed to open flagship studios in London.
