Those battling acne know that what works for someone else, may not work for them. Acne can have a variety of different causes – from hormonal factors, diet and lifestyle factors, all of which can be made worse by the overindulgence that often comes hand in hand with the festive season.
Young LDN set themselves apart from other salons by offering a bespoke approach to skincare. Nestled in the heart of Notting Hill and the go-to for yummy mummys and Pilates lovers alike, the salon is everything you would expect it to be – Instagrammable, high-tech and ultra sophisticated. It’s a one stop shop for all your beauty needs, offering everything from manicures and pedicures to waxing, lash extensions to high tech facials and body treatments.
In terms of facials, there’s a number you can choose from, depending on your skin type. Those with acne-prone skin should opt for the Bespoke Acne Facial or the Bespoke Deep Cleanse, whilst those looking for an anti-ageing effect should book an AW Growth Factor Treatment or the Signature Face Lift.
For my treatment, I was prescribed the Bespoke Acne Treatment by my personal therapist. The treatment differs from customer to customer, tackling different types of acne by getting to the root of the cause – and combatting both scarring and active breakouts with deep cleansing, extractions, dermaplaning, LED light therapy and enzymes. My therapist spoke to me about the cause of my acne, which we established was hormonal – as it tends to flare up between my eyebrows and on my chin during that time of the month.
We started with a soothing double cleanse to remove any residue – something that anyone battling acne should be doing at home as part of their skincare routine – before going in with a mask, extractions and the LED light therapy. Anyone thinking of booking the Bespoke Acne Facial should be aware that this isn’t necessarily a relaxing facial. The extractions can be an odd sensation (although they should never be painful), and the LED light therapy even more of a strange sensation than the former.
What it is, however, is effective. Directly after the facial, my skin was less inflamed, red and angry. In the coming days, my breakouts were smaller in size, whilst the rest of my skin was visibly smoother in texture. My pores were diminished, and whiteheads were minimal. Basically, considering the fact that my skin was prone to breakouts around this time of month, my skin had never looked better.
If you struggle with acne and can’t seem to get results from at-home skincare, or perhaps you can’t determine the cause, the Bespoke Acne Facial is definitely a treatment worth booking. What sets Young LDN apart from other salons and facialists in the area is their bespoke approach, combining treatments with expert advice so clients can see results beyond the treatment itself. A haven in the heart of West London, Young LDN is a must visit for any beauty lover.
