Make a statement: Best statement jewellery brands of 2023

From bold earrings to personalised necklaces, we take a closer look at some of the best luxury trends for statement jewellery in 2023.

By LLM Reporters   |

With spring just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to start thinking about your new season looks and adding some new garments and accessories to your wardrobe in line with the latest style trends. And what better way to take even the simplest of outfits to a whole new level than with some luxurious new pieces of jewellery?

Whilst the S/S 2023 fashion week catwalks are already far behind us, it’s only now that the latest and greatest new trends are starting to finally make their way into our favourite designer shops and boutiques, and at long last, we’re getting a glimpse of how the ostentatious looks that debuted in London, Paris, Milan and New York might translate into more wearable looks for the everyday.

Statement jewellery is set to be a major must for the warmer months, which means it’s a great time to start having some fun with big, bold necklaces and earrings, and chunky rings and bracelets in interesting shapes and combinations of materials. From Clogau jewellery to Mejuri, from diamonds the size of skating rinks to plastic beads, statement jewellery is here to stay for 2023 – so if you’re ready to take a chance on styling some bold new pieces, then these are the trends and brands to have on your radar.

Top 2023 jewellery trends to watch out for

‘Check ’em out’ earrings

The danglier, the wider, and the wilder, the better. Statement earrings are a great way to add a little glitz and glamour from a simple daytime look, and will see you straight through into the evening. Keep the rest of your jewellery minimal and allow them to do all the talking.

Bold wrist cuffs

From 24-carat gold to perspex, the cuffs that everyone’s mother wore in the seventies are back in a big way. These aren’t the dainty bracelets often associated with luxury, but rather, statement alternatives that exude a sense of confidence and self assurance. And in 2023, that’s what new luxury is all about.

Coloured stones

Diamonds are forever, and a classic white diamond will never go out of style, but this year, it’s all about embracing lavish gems and diamonds in a rainbow of colours – from deep, dark blue sapphires to vibrant red rubies, shining green emeralds and everything in between.

Punk influences

Chunky chains, safety pins, and spikes are all back in a more refined form – and some of our favourite high-end designers have created some of the biggest standout pieces of the season with these in mind.

Teeny tiny rings

Pinkie rings are big news for spring and summer 2023. Wear one as a statement, or stack different types together to create a unique and interesting look that’s all your own.

Hearts

The motif of the season, hearts are set to be everywhere, on everything. Necklace charms, earrings, rings, you name it – the cutesy look is well and truly back in vogue.

Personalised pieces

Time to break the ‘Carrie’ type necklaces that everyone got after Sex and the City came out back out, because initials and names on necklaces are a major trend for this year. Instead of a dainty nickname, opt for a singular letter – and of course, the chunkier, the better.

Best statement jewellery brands for 2023

Clogau

Clogau’s offering is well-known for its sparkling range of beautiful silver jewellery, but also offers up unique pieces featuring hints of rose gold and several coloured stone options. Silver is coming back in a big way this year, as are coloured stones, so Clogau is poised in the perfect position to lead the trends. Our favourite statement piece from Clogau is a charm bracelet completely overloaded with charms, just like the type we loved back in the 90s. A whimsical piece that will bring a little fun to your looks, it’s the ultimate statement piece of the season.

Bea Bongiasca

Another throwback to our younger years is Bea Bongiasca. Bright colours and strange shapes dominate her current collection, so if you love bright, bold, and funky, then it’s your perfect match. A brand favoured by celebs like Dua Lipa, who pulls off the look to utter perfection, enamel is everywhere for S/S 2023.

Nadine Aysoy

Born into a Belgian diamond dealing family, Nadine Aysoy was raised around fine jewels. Before dipping her toe into the jewellery world herself, she veered off the creative path and into investment banking, eventually coming out of the gate strong when she went back to her familial roots and released her first collection in 2017. Her elevated pieces manage to be bold but still sophisticated, and we can’t get enough of them.

Mejuri

This cult brand has gained a lot of followers on Instagram over the last few years, and we can certainly see why. Their high-quality, sustainably-made pieces adorn a number of celebrities’ necks, ears, and fingers, and the brand works with master jewellers in a way that is currently redefining the way the jewellery industry sees luxury items.

Milamore

Milamore Fine Jewellery is an ode, in large part, to the beautiful relationship that founder George Inaki Root had with his beloved grandmother, Milagros. The bold, organic shapes the brand features perfectly harmonise with Japanese culture, bringing it together with elements of his Spanish-Filipino and Japanese heritages to create something completely unique.

Melissa Kaye

Melissa Kaye works with bright and colourful enamels and classic, sophisticated metals. Her love of splashes of neon brings something new and exciting to metals that would usually be asked to make a big statement all on their own and her fine, angular pieces would not be a bold enough statement without the carefully placed stones and enamels: the pairing and balance of the pieces are simply perfection.

Colette

Iconic images like the Sacred Heart and the Evil Eye are the inspiration for Colette Steckel. Her pieces, though mostly small, pack an enormous punch and are not for the wallflower women of the world. The starburst rings dripping in diamonds, the traditional talismans, the golden snakes that wind their way over fingernails – avant-garde is the perfect term for Colette’s pieces, which are set to become some of the most highly-coveted of the year.
