When it comes to fashion, there’s no denying that it’s something of a fickle beast. With trends coming and going with the seasons, it’s often difficult to keep up with what’s hot and what’s not in the present moment – although if you’re a lover of looking your best, like we are, then no doubt, you try.
While some of our favourite trends have been known to fade into obscurity, never to be seen again, there are others that emerge from the ashes again and again with each new year – and some that never quite disappear at all.
So, if you’re looking for a little stability in your wardrobe in 2021 (because let’s face it, it’s one of the few things we CAN control), then check out these luxury style trends that never go out of fashion, and get ready to restock your wardrobe accordingly.
The leather jacket
The leather look is one that is rarely omitted from the new season catwalk shows by the world’s top designers, and rightly so. This versatile material has taken the form of classic bomber jackets, bikers and even leather trousers over the years, and whatever the time of year, there is a place for at least one luxury leather garment in your wardrobe, but preferably several.
Our advice? Find your signature piece, and stick with it. Sculpt Leather Jackets is a great place to start, offering a range of premium quality jackets in all colours and styles.
Stick to a classic cut in black or brown for the autumn and winter months – shearling optional – then invest in a coloured piece for spring and summer. A biker in mustard yellow or emerald green is a great choice and will liven up even the most pared down of outfits.
The aviator sunglasses
Dating all the way back to 1936, when the original Bausch and Lomb designs were intended to be protective eyewear for pilots when flying (hence the name), it wasn’t long before leading designers caught onto the look and transformed it into a must-have trend. Quickly becoming the signature style from Ray Ban and having been sported by a variety of iconic celebrities through the ages, they have since won themselves a permanent place in our eye-wardrobes as a timeless piece that never quite falls out of favour.
While numerous brands have since followed suit and come up with their own take on the aviator model, no-one has ever done it quite as well as Ray Ban, so invest in a classic pair which will last you for years to come.
Jewellery to impress
There are few fashion items that get better with age – unless, of course, we’re talking vintage. But a timeless watch is one of the rare exceptions to the rule, with many increasing considerably in value the older they are, and becoming all the more sought-after for it. An analogue Rolex is a piece that will always be a savvy investment for the future, and one that is unlikely to ever look out of place on your wrist. It doesn’t just look the part, but will serve as a nest-egg for the future, too – and can later become a family heirloom that can be passed down to children and grandchildren.
Wearing a signature jewellery piece such as a discreet bracelet or a ring can also elevate your look. Whether you are a big believer of less is more or a bold maximalist, wearing rings can make your style eccentric or classy chic without much effort. There are a number of male rings for any budget which can go with any style and, more importantly, add a timeless element to your outfit.
The little black dress
While the classic LBD has taken on many forms over the years, the basics of the trend have been one of the few constants in the fashion world over the years. A designer little black dress has long been a staple in any fashion-forward dresser’s wardrobe, and is a versatile piece that will see you through all kinds of different occasions. There’s no other garment out there that will have your back quite as many times as this one, and while the hemlines and embellishments of choice might come and go, the LBD never will.
Head to Prada for the latest and greatest varieties of the season – this particular fashion house has long been known to favour the look, and is an excellent first port of call.
