We caught up with Amba Logan, an award-winning facialist, skincare expert and celebrity makeup artist.
Amba has a prestigious Harley Street residency, over three decades of experience in the beauty industry and is best known for helping to achieve healthy, glowing skin.
My car of choice
I’d love to go full electric, and have my eye on the Mercedes Benz EQS, however, I’d take any car that comes complete with a driver, so I can chill in the back with a sheet mask on. I enjoy being a passenger more than I enjoy driving!
My favourite holiday destination
My favourite holiday destination is Ile de Ré in France, I feel instantly relaxed going over the bridge from La Rochelle. The long stretches of quiet beaches, heading out to dinner on push bikes, slower and simple pace of life, incredible food, all within a few hour’s drive of Paris – Perfection!
My gadget I can’t live without
I couldn’t live without my SkinPen micro-needling device. By far my favourite skin treatment on both, clients and myself. Gives glow like nothing else, its my little magic wand, making pigmentation, lines and wrinkles, large pores and dull skin disappear.
My go to fashion brand
For day to day, my go to fashion brand has to be Sezane. I adore everything about Parisian fashion and style, for me Sezane always delivers that cool girl look, yet is comfortable, amazing quality, sustainable and runs a philanthropic programme called Demain.
My airline of choice
Any airline that greets me with a glass of fizz, has enough room for me to do my skincare routine, or even better, offers in-flight beauty treatments is the one for me. A good movie and space to get some beauty sleep is an obvious bonus.
My favourite watch brand
My favourite watch brand is Cartier. My Cartier was the first real luxury item I bought myself in my 20s and I still feel really special wearing it today, 20 years later. The newly renovated flagship store in Paris is the epitome of luxury, and worth a visit to the capital for that alone.
My favourite restaurant
My favourite restaurant is not just about the food, but the surroundings, service and the feel good factor. Grantly Hall is worthy of a night’s stay to fully experience the old English glamour and exceptional customer service, but if you try one thing, the Sean Rankin tasting menu is perhaps my all time favourite meal.
My guilty pleasure
Emily In Paris on repeat is (one of my) guilty pleasures. I would say I watch it purely for the interior inspo, and Sylvie’s wardrobe (which I’d kill for) but in truth I love everything about it. Désolé pas désolé!
My favourite way to give back
The beauty industry has changed so much over the 30 years I have been lucky enough to be involved. I feel training is not what it was, nor where it should be. I love nothing more than helping upcoming therapists and facialists navigate their way through, and passing on some of what I have picked up along way.
Continuous training is important for me, there’s always so much more to learn. After 30 years working hands-on with clients, it’s so much more than ‘just a facial’ – to make clients feel good is more important than looking good, although the later usually follows naturally.
