We caught up with Christopher Mills, the founder of The Events Mill, one of the UK’s leading luxury events agencies.

My car of choice
This entirely depends on whether I’m driving or being driven. Both need to be luxury, of course, spacious and of an elegant temperament, soundless on the engine and more of a purr than a roar. To drive it must be a Range Rover and to be driven it must a phantom Rolls-Royce.
My favourite holiday destination
It’s impossible to choose one, but I absolutely choose culture over lounging. The Italian Rivera, New Orleans, Thailand, Rajasthan – places that offer vibrancy, difference and adventure always excite me. Wherever I stay I have to go five-star lux.
My gadget I can’t live without
Not so much a gadget, but I always carry a mobile painting palette of acrylics and mini paintbrush, and my painting notebook. I love to paint and keep a painting-diary of inspirations. Whenever I see something I love, this gadget comes out and I paint away. I love it.
My go to fashion brand
It might sound crazy, but it’s probably the drapes on your wall. I have been known to ask people if I can buy their curtains. I love to lux-cycle old fabrics, curtains, bedsheets, quilt covers and turn these into new coats, shirts and jackets and have my own wardrobe. It’s my signature thing.
My airline of choice
From the amount of Avios points I have you would think it’s British Airways, but I am not loyal to one airline over another. But I am fussier about service and food, and I always fly Upper or First and I do read reviews. I guess I am more particular about the aircraft than the airline itself.
My favourite watch brand
I adore the limited-edition pieces by Vacheron-Constantin. Their collection is unrivalled, in my opinion, and I love how creative and beautiful their faces are, in particular the Métiers d’Art collection and how they find their inspiration in art, history, and culture.
My favourite restaurant
I have too many favourite restaurants and an important part of my job as a party planner is to constantly try new food. But one particular restaurant that sticks out is II Gallo d’Oro, a two-Michelin-starred restaurant in Funchal, Madeira. The menu at Il Gallo d’Oro has brought the refinement of aromatic cuisine to the table, inspired by Iberian cooking, by chef Benoît Sinthon. Truly epic food.
My guilty pleasure
Disney. I am a fanatic Disney lover and I love everything to do with the imagination of Disney. I try to visit Disney World at least once every two years and I will constantly watch Disney films to help me relax. The stories, imagination and unfettered approach to creation inspires me on another level.
My favourite way to give back
I enjoy being philanthropic with my work and I’m fortunate to be able to support many charities, in particular children’s charities such as War Child and Make-A-Wish UK. Party planning can often be seen as a frivolous, throwaway spend so it’s important to give back and to use my skills and contacts to raise vital funds in this way. I am proud of the philanthropic work my agency has produced.
