We caught up with Karen Mooney, managing director and founder of the hugely successful introduction agency, Sara Eden Introductions, which has been in operation for 32 years and has been responsible for hundreds of weddings and happy relationships.
My car of choice
Land Rover – I have had several over the years. There’s no doubt that the Land Rover represents one of the best SUVs on the market today. Not only are they precisely engineered and well-crafted but they also carry an air of refinement and sophistication. They are safe and reliable. I was just about to take delivery of my new Evoke when we went into lockdown.
My favourite holiday destination
Without doubt Barbados. I have had several fabulous holidays there over the years. We hire a friend’s parent’s villa on the Sandy Lane estate and a group of us go with our families. The beaches are so beautiful and the Bajan people are so friendly. My favourite restaurant in Barbados is the Cliff in St. James, the view is amazing and the food is delicious.
My gadget I can’t live without
Alexa, Alexa, Alexa. How did I ever cope before Alexa? I ask her to play my favourite songs, provide me with all sorts of information, tell me the weather forecast, the latest news, read me a story, set an alarm. Linked with our Ring doorbell she even announces when someone comes to the door.
My go to fashion brand
I like Burberry, one of Britain’s best-known fashion brands. It’s stylish and timeless fashion lasts for years. I still have a trench coat and a couple of scarves I purchased in the early 90s – still going strong and looking good. I’m a big fan of their perfume too and my favourite is Brit for women.
My airline of choice
Without doubt British Airways. My late father was a pilot for BA and as a family we travelled all over the world. They are always so professional and the service on board is better than I have ever experienced with another airline. I like collecting their Airmiles too with my American Express card.
My favourite watch brand
Cartier, I have two Cartier watches. My everyday one is the iconic Tank in Rose gold with a brown alligator leather strap. It’s lightweight, keeps perfect time and looks good too. My other one is a Rose gold Ronde Louis; this is my special occasion watch and I just love it!
My favourite restaurant
The original Ivy in West Street, Covent Garden. I went there in February for a friend’s birthday, the atmosphere, service and food were all excellent. My favourite starter is poached egg with truffles artichoke and brioche. My favourite main is baked seabass with sweet black bean sauce and my favourite dessert is their white chocolate bomb with crushed hazelnuts – it’s delicious.
My guilty pleasure
Last year a satisfied client sent me a Fortnum and Mason hamper. In it were milk and dark chocolate caramels and Marc de Champagne truffles – I love them. Every now and then I treat myself. They are expensive but they are simply delicious.
My favourite way to give back
My business – I love it. How many jobs allow you to change someone’s life for the better? In 2018 we had our 30th anniversary celebrations and couples spanning the years came to celebrate with us, old and young, some brought their children – one couple brought their new born baby along to celebrate with us! Every so often I will offer a complimentary membership if I feel someone is deserving.
