We caught up with Melanie Blake, the leading celebrity agent and author of Ruthless Women, which went straight into the Sunday Times Bestseller list at number four, just three days after being published.
My car of choice
I don’t drive as I prefer to work on my phone when I am in the car, but I have a driver who chauffeurs me around in his two-door SV Coupé which is white. I love land-rovers as they always make me feel safe – they are so well built you have a feeling that, God forbid you were in an accident, you’d most likely be OK. I did used to drive, but I found it too stressful, I had an open topped mini with a Union Jack on its bonnet in the 90s when Cool Britannia was at its height – it used to get a lot of attention when I drove it, but it used to wreck my hair!
My favourite holiday destination
The Marbella Club in Spain, I go every year and stay in one of their gorgeous villas, they offer a butler service and a spa, and with its private beach and boardwalk it really is like a piece of heaven. I do, of course, travel all over the world and enjoy spending time in the States especially New York, but The Marbella Club is quick to get to and never lets me down for the perfect balance of relaxation and entertainment.
My gadget I can’t live without
My iPhone, I am never off it especially as I have so much social media to keep on top of and my overflowing email inbox, and now all my music is stored on it too, I would truly be lost without it.
My go-to fashion brand
Valentino. I love how limited their ranges are, often they only send two pieces to a store, so chances are it’s not often you will see someone wearing your look.
My airline of choice
B.A. I like the old-fashioned First Class service, it looks a bit dated compared to some of the other airlines, but they are always on time and the staff tend to be older and more into their jobs, the Virgin staff always look like teenagers and act like it too.
My favourite watch brand
I am very partial to Theo Fennell, I love his workshops where you can go and have a look at the gems and design exactly how you would like to wear him. He’s a very talented man.
My favourite restaurant
Palm Court at The Langham Hotel, the food is excellent, the service is second to none and whenever I walk in, John Watson, the fabulous resident pianist, always plays a Bond theme tune to signal my arrival – what more could a girl want!
My guilty pleasure
Handbags! I have a whole room just for my bags at home and that’s in addition to my walk-in wardrobe, I am a sucker for a Chanel Boy Bag, I must have every colour of the rainbow!
My favourite way to give back
I do a lot of food bank work, I like to drop off food at local charities, I was raised in a family that had to rely on foodbank handouts and it’s not something you forget, no matter how wealthy you become.
