Visiting EU countries post Brexit
You may be wondering what the rules are these days for UK travellers when it comes to picking up and visiting some of Europe’s most delightful cities, especially if you are planning on staying for a little longer to truly soak up what each place has to offer, and we will clear that up for you below.
Since the UK officially left the European Union (EU) on January 31, 2020, there have been changes to travel regulations for UK citizens visiting Europe. From 2025, British travellers to the EU must apply online for a visa waiver before arriving at their mainland European destination and also complete the ETIAS application form.
You may have some questions like, how do I apply for ETIAS and how long is ETIAS valid for? And you’ll be pleased to learn that it’s a maximum 10-minute task for British citizens that can be done at home before travel. The good news is too that once it is completed, the visa waiver is then electronically linked to your passport for the next three years allowing for unlimited travel to the EU within that time, so you can check off many more exciting.
