Today, the rich, colourful and bohemian past of Eynsham Hall has been reinterpreted and repurposed as a magnificent hotel. 2016 marks the completion of a £2.5m refurbishment, with some of the most stunning Cotswolds bedrooms you’ll find for an escape it all weekend break.
Built as a Georgian house in 1780, Eynsham Hall was demolished in 1904 and rebuilt four years later as a Jacobean country house for the Mason family. Hall rooms are individual and eclectically furnished, pairing antiques with modern British design. Bedrooms feature the classic and unmistakable patterns of William Morris. The gardens are extensive and inspiring, the welcome is warm and hearty.
The interior styling and The Brasserie design is the work of London based Project Orange, an award winning design and architecture practice. Much of the interior design has been influenced by Eynsham’s history, combining the glitz and glamour of days gone by with a modern 21st century twist on country living from the 1900’s.
In addition to the Jacobean staircase that dominates the Main Hall, no two bedrooms are alike, but they all have a similar quirky charm – a touch of English eccentricity in designs that offsets the original features in each room. The concept of familial hospitality is at the heart of the rooms, designed to invite guests to spend time in the historic country retreat of the fabulous and glamorous Mason family.
The Hall also has a well-deserved reputation as one of the best wedding venues in Oxfordshire Cotswolds, an idyllic location for the sort of wedding that dreams are made of. It offers a mouth-watering selection of options from perfectly seared scallops and tender rabbit, to delicious pork belly and a wine list to accompany the dishes, including the Hall’s own label.
