Leading travel and food writer Georgie Bentley-Buckle checks into the luxurious 7Pines Resort Ibiza, part of Destination by Hyatt, a sprawling five-star establishment on Ibiza’s west coast between Cala Conta and Cala Codolar.
Hotel
Shrouded with myths and legends is Es Vedra: an uninhabited island considered one of the earth’s most magnetic destinations. Enjoying arguably the finest view over its dramatic ocean vista is 7Pines, a sleek five-star hotel on the west coast of Ibiza, that since opening in 2018, has established itself as one of the Balearic island’s most luxurious destinations.
Room
7Pines is a low-rise villa resort that includes 185 suites that combine laid-back luxury with subtle touches of ‘Ibizan flair’. Spread across three areas: the Ibicenco Village, The Laguna and The Cliff, each feature a terrace or balcony with views over the gardens, resort, the sea or their very own private pool.
A cool and friendly colour scheme cast across each of the whitewashed Ibicenco-style homes makes 7Pines feel more like a community than a hotel. This included our sea view suite on the first floor. A larger suite ideal for families or longer stays, it included a large bedroom and living space, shower room, a plush wine bar and sea views framed by a glass balcony.
Embodying the island’s authentic character with contemporary touches throughout, each of these suites offer a ‘home from home’ vibe, making it no surprise that discerning families and couples return year on year.
Food and drink
7Pines’ two restaurants, Cone Club and The View make the very most of the location with panoramic views overlooking Es Vedra and the expanse of the Mediterranean Sea.
Tailored to its inspiring setting and open to hotel guests and visitors alike is 7Pines’ fine-dining restaurant – The View. Honouring the heritage of the destination, The View offers a variety of Mediterranean inspired tasting menus that have been reinterpreted with modern touches. Devour meticulously presented dishes aside its 40-metre contemporary glass façade set at the edge of the cliff, making it one of the very best spots to watch the sunset. Dishes include veal sweetbread with black truffle, beef tenderloin and sea bass with wild fennel flower combined with wine pairings from the sommelier.
Downstairs, and where breakfast takes its turn to step into the spotlight, is Cone Club. Dishing up fresh fruits, pastries, juices and hot à la carte dishes such as eggs benedict, a cheerful décor offers a relaxed setting to start the day each morning. Whilst each evening, you can also watch the sun drop below the horizon with a menu offering a taste of island life, from hand-sliced Iberico ham, croquettas and Mediterranean seabass with jugs of sangria.
Spa and wellness
Pure Seven is the wellness hub of 7Pines. Situated in the centre and considered the ‘soul of the resort’, it is an impressive building where the spa and high-tech gym can be found. In keeping with the theme, Pure Seven is inspired by the Mediterranean lifestyle and energy of Ibiza. A holistic and therapeutic approach throughout their nature-inspired treatments reconnect the mind and body using salt from the ocean and local herbs across massages, facials, wraps, scrubs and rituals. Meanwhile, the gym’s leading personal trainers offer everything from yoga and meditation to HIIT, mobility and stretching and guided running.
In a nutshell
Perched on the edge of a pine forest bordering the sea on the west coast of the island 7Pines offers the ultimate in refinement. A place to slow down, kick back and relax – its blue and white colour scheme blends seamlessly with the sky and ocean for an island escape that will leave you ‘Pineing’ for more.
