Hotel
Almanac Palais Vienna is a five-star hotel that occupies a historic building, which dates back to the 19th century. The hotel has been renovated and refurbished to meet the highest standards of modern hospitality while preserving the original charm and character of the architecture.
The hotel features 111 rooms and suites, a spa and wellness centre, a restaurant and bar, coffee shop, fitness centre, business centre, and a concierge service. The hotel staff are friendly, professional, and attentive, ready to cater to your every need to make your stay memorable.
Room
The rooms and suites at Almanac Palais Vienna are spacious, elegant, and comfortable. They are decorated in a contemporary style, with warm colours, natural materials, and artistic touches, and are equipped with all the modern amenities, such as air conditioning, Wi-Fi, smart TV, minibar, coffee machine, safe, and hairdryer.
The bathrooms are luxurious, with marble floors, rain showers, bathtubs, and toiletries. The rooms and suites also have large windows that offer stunning views of either the city or the courtyard.
We stayed in one of the Almanac Rooms, which is the standard room category and boasts a king-size bed, a sofa bed, desk, and a wardrobe. The room was cosy, clean, and quiet, and had enough space for us and our toddler, while offering views of the inner courtyard. The bed was soft and fluffy, and the pillows were just right, while the presence of a Nespresso machine was a nice touch.
The bathroom was spotless and spacious, with a rain shower and a bathtub and the toiletries were high-quality and smelled lovely.
Food and drink
The hotel’s restaurant is called Donnersmarkt, and it offers a modern take on Austrian Alpine-inspired ‘plant-forward’ cuisine. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and has an elegant atmosphere with large windows facing the Ringstrasse.
Breakfast is freshly prepared and you order directly from their à la carte menu. Ingredients are sourced locally to create the tasty Öfferl, an organic sourdough bread that goes well with smoked salmon and avocado. Enjoy this with a freshly brewed cup of coffee from the coffee shop next door.
Ingredients for the dinner menu are inspired by the traditional Viennese weekly markets, so expect fresh regional and seasonal vegetables from the Alpine regions determine the rotating menu. Executive chef, Andreas Mahl delighted us with his presence during our stay to ensure that we were enjoying our meals.
The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable, while the service is friendly and efficient, and the chef is happy to accommodate special requests and dietary preferences.
Be sure to pay a visit to the hotel’s bar – Almanac Bar, a stylish and lively spot to enjoy a drink or a snack. The bar has a wide range of cocktails, wines, beers, and spirits, as well as non-alcoholic beverages and light bites.
Spa and wellness
Almanac Palais Vienna has a spa and wellness centre that offers a variety of treatments and facilities to pamper and rejuvenate your body and mind. The spa has a sauna, steam room, relaxation area with a stunning indoor pool, and a treatment room. We made good use of all these amenities after a full day of walking around Vienna.
The wellness area also has a fitness centre that has state-of-the-art equipment. The spa offers a range of massages, facials, body wraps, and manicures, using natural and organic products. It’s the perfect place to unwind and relax after a busy day of sightseeing or work.
