If you’ve ever watched the 90s classic, Pretty Woman, you will know Beverly Wilshire is THE hotel to stay at when visiting Beverly Hills. Even though decades have passed, it remains on the pantheon of iconic luxury hotels to visit when travelling to California due to its harmonious blend of old Hollywood glamour and modern-day luxuries.

The location of the hotel could not be more central, especially if you like shopping Julia Roberts style; Rodeo Drive with every imaginable high-end shop is right on your doorstep.

Hotel

This iconic hotel epitomises Hollywood glamour

You know you’ve arrived at the epitome of glamour, as soon as you step into the hotel lobby with the intricate, polished marble floor, the statement pillars and floral displays that wouldn’t look out of place at an Oscars ceremony. Although, if you are hunting for locations from the aforementioned film, you might be disappointed as most of the filming took place inside soundstages at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank.

There are two distinct wings of the hotel: the Beverly and Wilshire wings and renovations in recent years have helped to unify the wings via a second-floor corridor. It will be no surprise if you encounter a celebrity or two during your stay as famous icons such as Elvis Presley, Warren Beatty and Steve McQueen have all resided at the hotel over the years with Warren Beatty even living in his suite here for 15 years in the prime of his career.

Rooms and suites

Spacious rooms and suites offer an understated elegance

There are 395 rooms in total, 137 of which are suites, however, it never feels overcrowded such is the spacious nature of the hotel. Even the entry-level signature rooms are at a spacious 37m² and at the other end of the spectrum, you have the commodious penthouse suite at 465m².

Rooms offer an understated elegance with a soothing palette of ivory, silver and grey. The curved windows leading onto their double-width balconies add a sense of theatre to your stay and you will either be overlooking their famous porte-cochère or the verdant, residential parts of Beverly Hills.

Expect only the very best of amenities, from the new Four Seasons bed, which is customisable for a perfect night’s sleep, to thick terry bathrobes and slippers. Toiletries are courtesy of Frederick Mall or in select suites, Guerlain. The latest feature available in the penthouse and presidential suites is a holographic communicator. This allows the guest experience team to live beam directly into the room to help discuss offering more memorable and bespoke experiences for their VIP guests.

Food and drink

CUT celebrates the finest cuts of steaks and the freshest seafood from around the world

The main dining facilities to check out on site are CUT and THE Blvd. The former is the flagship restaurant created by celebrity chef, Wolfgang Puck, which celebrates the finest cuts of steaks and the freshest seafood from all over the world. The well-marbled A5 Wagyu is sourced from the Miyazaki prefecture, whilst the wild ahi tuna tartare is of the wild Hawaiian variety.

If you want to dine somewhere to see and be seen, it has to be THE blvd, especially if you get a seat on the patio overlooking the glitzy Rodeo Drive. The menu might appear less formal than CUT, but the ingredients are no less well-sourced. Their gigantic scallops are from Maine and served up with braised pine nut ragu and parmesan mousse, while their Wagyu ribeye is supplied by Snake River Farms, who pioneered the American Wagyu beef.
