Vietnam is a land where natural beauty abounds at every turn with lush jungles, miles of flawless beaches and so much to do on and away from the shores. One of Vietnam’s most popular tourist destinations is Da Nang. Here you’ll find the Fusion Maia Resort Da Nang, a special resort perfectly positioned to take advantage of the country’s amazing natural abundance as well as a refuge for personal rejuvenation.
Fusion Maia is not like most five star resorts. The resort faces the South China Sea and Da Nang’s white and powdery My Khe Beach. The lush tropical grounds set the tone for a different way of experiencing a holiday with a focus on the art of relaxation. The resort is spa inclusive which means that spa treatments are included in the daily rate. In addition, all of the villas have pools. And as if that wasn’t enough, guests can have their included breakfast where ever they want on the property and at any time. A very unique vacation experience indeed.
The resort is just a few miles from one of Vietnam’s must visit historic sites, Hoi An. Hoi An is a 15th Century trading village. It is a step back in time with its yellow facades and bustling shops, markets, and bistros. Tourist flock to this UNESCO World Heritage site with many taking the long tail boat down the Thu Bon River while others stroll down streets or step into a boutique or visit a bistro for a bite al fresco.
The Fusion Maia Da Nang Resort and Spa is beautiful. Chinese paper lamps in mauve and white spread mottled light around the interiors. The design is light white contemporary surfaces against dark wood structures with pops of dark purple and pinks. The chic interiors of the main building and dining area are spacious with high ceilings and large wrap around verandas in homage to the British colonial influence. There is a beautiful long reflecting pool which gives way to the infinity edged black slate pool lined with chaise longues, gazebos and canvas umbrellas. The beach and ocean is the backdrop and just steps away.
The resort has only 87 villas so there’s an intimate feel. Each villa is wonderfully designed with light earth tone colours and mauve accent pieces. There are deep brown woods and mirrors everywhere. Each villa has a deep soaking tub and separate shower. There are no rooms here; only suites with separate living areas. The most impressive element is the private pools perfect for romantic nights and celebrating anniversaries or honeymoons. There is a trellis outdoor space with a sitting area for late nights of sipping a glass of wine in complete privacy.
There are three fabulous beach villas perfect for families our couples travelling together. Each is located away from the central area of the property near the beach. You’ll enter a courtyard and another level of luxury as you pass the water feature and fountains along the black slate walkway. Inside there is a grand salon with a table for eight and sitting area with glass doors overlooking the pool and beach. There is a kitchenette as well.
The beach villas have two master rooms with large spaces, and sunken bath. The central sitting area is spacious as well, with a large smart TV. What is most striking is the large pool and lawn dotted with coconut trees and a magnificent view of the beach and crashing waves.
There are numerous reasons to go to the Fusion Maia. One of the key hotel experiences is about wellness and rejuvenation. The spa experience is the focal element here and there is a huge facility of 16 treatment rooms, two beauty salons, private Jacuzzis, steam rooms, sauna, a relaxation room and library. There’s also a large adults only pool to cool off before or after your treatment. There is a staff of 120 healing experts providing a wide range of services. Each guest is entitled to unlimited spa treatments which are included in the rate and the guests absolutely love it!
I opted for the natural living therapy which is one of their signature massages. My therapist was small and petite but had enough strength in her hands to crack a walnut. She used elbows and other part to get deep into the muscles focusing on the knots in ways I haven’t experienced before. It began with a foot bath of mint and sea salts. There was another treatment included so I had the back neck and shoulders treatment as well.
There is a comprehensive offering of treatments but it is more than just a series of treatments here. It’s a more a philosophy called their Seven Daily Practices for Natural Living and has specific activities each day where guests feel free, eat well, enjoy nature, be active etc. The concept is to teach guests how to live better at the resort and when they go home, and to achieve a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
Healthy living is about being active, being centred mentally and spiritually, and sound nutrition. So with that Fusion Maia Da Nang Resort and Spa has put as much emphasis on a delicious and healthy dining as they have in the accommodations and spa experience.
The Five Dining Room is an elegant venue with smooth music, candle light and perfect for celebrating an anniversary, birthday or a romantic dinner. The décor is chic and modern and the musical menu includes mood setting tunes from the likes of Nora Jones and Gladys Knight. The dinner menu features fresh and delicious traditional Vietnamese dishes created in front of you in their open kitchen as chefs hustle back and forth and woks spit flames in the air as aromatic steam wafts through the room.
Fresh is their casual dining restaurant that serves light and healthy meals by the pool. It’s a great place for seafood or to grab a pizza, pasta or a fresh salad.
But the Fusion Maia knows that its guests may want to sleep in late or they may not want breakfast before 10:30 so they have an unusual concept of breakfast anytime and anywhere. Bizarre yes but not really. Guest can choose to have breakfast at any venue or in their room or by the pool at any time of the day they choose. It is your holiday, breakfast is included so they feel that you should have it when and where you like. What a wonderful surprise.
For a little added adventure, guests can also take the shuttle into Hoi An and have a meal at their cool and edgy Fusion Café. The café is perfect for a casual meal or a night of entertainment with cocktails and dancing in the Historic Hoi An riverside area. As it’s connected to the hotel, you can charge to your room or even have the included breakfast there instead of on property.
There’s plenty to do in the area from strolling along the beach, all there is to do at the property or taking an excursion into town. Each day there is a shuttle that takes guests to Hoi An which is one of the oldest villages in Vietnam and only 20 minutes away.
Once there, you’ll be able to stroll along the river as guests take rides with local guides or shop in the many boutiques. Just along the waterfront, there’s a huge market where locals and tourists can buy all kinds of food, clothes, or daily items. People watching is fun here as well and many travellers have a front row seat at the numerous bars and bistros.
Da Nang is not far away as well and it is once of Vietnams larger cities. There you’ll find everything from shopping, sightseeing and a pulsating nightlife.
Fusion Maia Da Nang Resort and Spa is a wonderful concept. It is a concept about a journey of healing and rejuvenation. For those looking to heal weary bodies or for loved ones seeking a unique vacation experience in an exotic location, The Fusion Maia Resort and Spa is an option sure to please.
