Anyone that is lucky enough to discover Hotel Suite Villa Maria will be torn between wanting to tell the world about this gem nestled in the fairways of Golf Costa Adeje and wanting to keep it a secret. There are few places that immediately feel so warm and welcoming that even when you’re away it almost feels you’re right at home. Add the beautiful Tenerife climate, sea views and staff that genuinely love working there and you have a fantastic sunshine hideaway.

Hotel Suite Villa Maria feels more like a mini village than a resort

Both Tenerife and Hotel Suite Villa Maria are fantastic locations for a family holiday for those wanting a dose of luxury. Tenerife, part of the Canary Islands, is geographically privileged to benefit from approx. 2,870 hours of sunshine and has one of the best climates in the world being considered subtropical oceanic. It’s a perfect escape for winter sun and doesn’t get overwhelmingly hot in the summer either. La Caleta, the nearby attractive fishing village, is perfectly set within Tenerife, 22km from the airport and not far from the main attractions, but far enough to feel upmarket and selective.

Hotel Suite Villa Maria feels more like a mini village than a resort, with Canarian architect design that welcomes you on arrival into a large open-air square with archways that serve as the hotel’s main entry point. The grounds are kept immaculate, and everything is exceptionally well maintained with free Wi-Fi that works across the entire resort. For families looking to mix function with luxury, they really do have everything you need.

Accommodation consists of a range of luxury villas, some with garden pools and hydromassage tubs

The accommodation consists of individual villas, all similar but also bespoke and none the same. There’s a range of options from garden villas, some with hot tubs and a selection that have their own swimming pools. At the top of the accommodation list is the Bellavista Villa, a private, exclusive, and unique villa that has capacity for six people within the hotel, hosting a private garden with an exterior hydromassage bathtub, as well as a private heated pool.

All the villas are well equipped with a kitchen, living room, sofa, balcony, garden, sun beds and even pillow menus. Room sizes are extremely generous in size with all bedrooms accompanied by a bathroom.

The garden pools are a real luxury, as are the villas with hydromassage tubs, and both are great additions to the two large, heated pools on site along with a baby pool, which helps keep things cool in this fantastic year-round climate.

Food

Guests can enjoy al fresco dining in style

The hotel benefits from providing real variety when it comes to dining and there’s an option for bed and breakfast, half board and full board. Breakfast is taken on a beautiful terrace, which is a great way to enjoy the incredible mountain views from one direction and the sea in the other, and can be accompanied by bubbles, with a special Champagne Sunday each weekend. Breakfast is extensive; fresh seasonal fruit, eggs to your liking, fine cheeses and cold cuts, tasty pastries, everything you need to start your morning well.

Also on this level is the La Torre restaurant which serves the gourmet a-la carte menu, which was extremely well put together and has a local Canarian influence. Lunch was served at the Blue Oasis that doubled up as the poolside bar, which was great for those days where you just don’t want to move too far from your sunbed.

Nearby La Caleta is quaint and relatively quiet but served up some surprisingly good restaurants including CHAR Fuego y Brasas, an upmarket steak house and Lagarto Brasserie, serving Mediterranean cuisine, both worthy of a visit and wouldn’t be out of place in a large European city. In addition, there were also some simple eateries that were perfectly positioned to overlook the endless Atlantic Ocean, offering something low key but equally as satisfying.

Guests can explore the rugged beauty of Tenerife

For those who do like to stay active, Hotel Suite Villa Maria is uniquely positioned between Los Largos, a nine-hole golf course, and Tenerife Top Training (T3), a top-level training facility used by high performance athletes and teams all year round. Tenerife, with its year-round attractive climate, has long been a destination for fitness fanatics and adrenaline junkies. The hills around the hotel are perfect for paragliding.

Villa Maria is perfect for families but doesn’t feel like somewhere that is overrun by children. This is one of its big wins, it manages this balance so well and almost effortlessly. This isn’t a hotel that’s 100% focussed on the younger members of the family, but they certainly accommodate for it. Pispita kids club provides entertainment for four to 12-year-olds five days a week, with additional activities in the pool that both children and adults can enjoy, all without being too overbearing. There’s more than enough to keep everyone entertained.

For those who do want to completely avoid things it’s easily done, the second large pool is set away from the first and is much quieter and adult orientated. Everything feels very relaxed and non-intrusive. If it all gets too much then there’s the option to retreat to the full-service wellness centre, Naiad, which provides a full range of treatments including facial, massage, manicures and pedicures adapted to your needs and requirements.

In a nutshell

Hotel Suite Villa Maria is a destination that has something to offer for everyone, a home from home, and somewhere that will draw you back year after year. The only decision you need to make is how many people are you prepared to share this little sunshine gem with.
