Hotel Review: Hyatt Regency Pune, Pune in India

By Jyoti Balani   |

Last weekend I was invited by Sandeep Singh, Director of Operations, Hyatt Regency, Pune for a weekend stay. Located in the urbane locality of Viman Nagar, Hyatt Regency Pune is perfect for both business and leisure stays.

The hotel’s proximity to Lohegaon International Airport, city’s prime entertainment areas like Kalyani Nagar, Koregaon Park and IT hubs like Business Bay, Commer Zone, Cerebrum and Eon IT Parks makes it an ideal choice for both business and leisure travelers.

Clad in warm golden Rajasthani stone, Hyatt Regency Pune is a contemporary hotel with extensive banquet, contemporary event spaces, wedding and conference facilities, innovative food and beverage outlets, Arogya spa and fitness center. On arrival it was heartwarming to see personalized welcome amenities created by the hotel’s team.

“Hyatt Regency is one of the premium business luxury hotels in Pune where experiences come to life. Each team member is constantly motivated to deliver great experiences to each and every one of our guests. And I believe that to be one of our strongest USPs – our people. We also try to constantly innovate in order to provide the right product to the guests.

Last year we launched an event space called EQ:IQ which has changed the way events are hosted in the city. This year we launched a European style bistro called Zeta where an unparalleled multi-dimensional menu is winning over the hearts of city food lovers,” said General Manager Shobhit Sawhney.

The expansive hotel houses 222 guestrooms including suites and 79 serviced apartments, with beautifully landscaped outdoor spaces and dramatically lit water features. Floor-to-ceiling swathes of glass separate the glistening marble lobby from the outdoor water fountains and tree-filled driveway. Large and open public spaces of the hotel’s interior have been artfully divided into smaller, more intimate areas, giving the guests a sense of expansive luxury and privacy at the same time.

The clean, modern lines of the hotel’s décor have been reiterated in the impressive chandelier which lights the way to the hotel’s two restaurants, the bar and the lounge area. An all-day dining venue, The Café features market-style dining experience with interactive live kitchens serving vibrant and colorful cuisines from all over the world. The Café is a great place to enjoy a leisurely breakfast or a fun Sunday Brunch as I discovered during my stay in the hotel.

The newly opened and much loved venue Zeta offers a clock-less dining experience, with unpretentious, multi-dimensional offerings inspired from regions of Europe, Mediterranean and India. Zeta is a bright and cheerful multi flavoured restaurant and has a marvelous alfresco area with water bodies and lot of greenery. Executive Chef Anirban Dasgupta created a home-style Bengali thaali for me on request.

Single Malt & Co. Bar and Lounge offers a wide range of Single Malt whiskies and other liquors, wines, beers and cocktails in an elegant setting. An expert bartender created a couple of heady cocktails for me to enjoy during my stay.

Gourmet Avenue is an interesting venue located in the hotel’s expansive lobby and served baked goodies, tea and coffee along with delicious pastries. What is most impressive about Gourmet Avenue is that local goodies such as vada paav, samosas and missal paav with a cup of masala chai can be enjoyed in this delightful venue with natural light streaming in through the glass panels.

The comfortable and stylish guestrooms are filled with natural sunlight and decorated in soft neutral tones, highlighted by warm golden sycamore wood accents and translucent glass. An outstanding feature in each room is the ‘sanctuary bathroom’ with a sparkling white Italian marble floor, freestanding bath tub and separate walk-in rain shower.

All rooms are equipped to suit the needs of today’s business traveler — with wired and wireless Internet access, 40-inch LCD TVs and iPod docking stations. Spacious suites offer city views with luxurious living and dining areas.

What I enjoyed most of my time spent at this hotel was my visits to the Arogya Spa & Fitness Centre. Equipped with efficient therapists, serene spaces and effective Ayurvedic therapies, this spa is definitely worth several visits and works on uplifting the mind, body and soul.

The Arogya Spa also features a heated indoor swimming pool set among aesthetic water features. The spacious gym and fitness center has floor-to-ceiling windows allowing percolation of natural light.

A weekend stay at the Hyatt Regency is a great way to relax and rejuvenate as I discovered during my recent stay at the hotel. Definitely worth several visits!
