Hotel Review: Lincoln Plaza London, Canary Wharf in London

By Ina Yulo Stuve   |

For years, Canary Wharf was known solely as London’s bustling financial district. However, with developments such as the street food market Giant Robot, Mudchute Park and Farm on the Isle of Dogs, and the nearby Museum of London Docklands, the neighbourhood has quietly started to become a preferred choice for visitors.

With 129 bedrooms and a location that positions it just 15 minutes away from Oxford Street, the recently-opened Lincoln Plaza Hotel makes for a perfect London staycation.

Rooms and suites are elegant and stylish with excellent facilities

Just a short walk from both the Canary Wharf underground stop and the South Quay DLR station, the Curio Collection by Hilton hotel was filled with a mix of tourists, families, and professionals during our overnight stay.

Our room at Lincoln Plaza was sleek, spacious, and built for comfort. Amenities included a 46-inch HDTV, premium coffee maker, curated artwork, and socially-conscious bathroom range produced by Stone Street Soaphouse in Kent. We also enjoyed the welcome drink from the hotel bar Jack Speak.

For dinner, we headed over to Mr. Todiwala’s Kitchen, the pan-Indian restaurant by celebrity chef Cyrus Todiwala OBE. We paired our meal with a bottle of Riesling and invited the kitchen to send us a selection of their best dishes such as the Goan king prawn curry and a platter of meats from the tandoori grill.

After dinner, we made our way to Jack Speak Bar, the hotel’s late-night nautical-themed drinking den. Jack Speak had an extensive menu of spirits and cocktails and the bartender even surprised us with his own unique creations that fused together different liquors and flavours.

For those wanting a true staycation experience, the hotel also has a 24-hour fitness centre, pool, sauna, and steam room. The all-day restaurant, Food Store, caters to a wide range of dining preferences and changes with the seasons to ensure only the freshest ingredients are used.
