Hotel Review: Nobu Hotel in Miami Beach, Florida, USA

Baldwin Ho soaks up some winter sun at this luxury hotel on the Florida coast.

For those holiday-seekers looking for winter sun with the best gastronomic and cultural experiences, look no further than Miami Beach, Florida. With average temperatures of around 24-28 degrees Celsius, it is no surprise Hollywood and sporting celebrities often decamp to the local area during the winter months in the northern hemisphere.

One of the best places to stay in Miami Beach is at Nobu Hotel which is in the mid-beach area. It makes for a convenient central location whether you want to visit South Beach or Bal Harbour.

Hotel

The hotel boasts plenty of facilities to enjoy the views, including The Terrace

It is a hotel within a hotel, situated inside Eden Roc hotel’s original tower dating back to 1956, which is the epitome of MiMo (Miami Modern) design. The rather clean, minimalist exterior leads into a more glamorous interior with the centrepiece brass and silver chandelier being the focal point above their bar. Signage is very clear with the reception for Nobu being on the right and Eden Roc on the left. You know it’s a luxury five-star experience when Champagne is poured for you even before the check-in process has started.

Most of the amenities are shared with Eden Roc hotel guests including the three pools, a soothing spa, a well-equipped fitness centre, and beach service. On top of that, you get access to the elevated private Nobu pool. Once you enter the hallways of Nobu Hotel, there is a distinct zen-like vibe highlighted by their paper lanterns light installation, which is arranged into a blossom tree shape.

The cherry blossom theme continues into the room with the backdrop above the bed, while paper lanterns also adorn the bedroom. The Nobu signature bed by Simmons with pillow-top along with Fili D’Oro linens ensures a perfect night’s sleep to combat any jetlag woes. High-quality Natura Bissé amenities are supplied along with a giant rainfall shower and a teak bench to add to those Japanese vibes.

All your mod con needs are present from high-speed Wi-Fi to a media hub with Bluetooth technology. They have a spacious balcony for you to enjoy the sights and sounds of Miami Beach and admire the super blue skies of Florida, although, it can get quite windy at higher altitudes.

The eponymous restaurant is no doubt a highlight with the best sashimi and wagyu in town. However, they still offer plenty of other options including at their bar area where you can snack on Nobu dishes including healthy tuna poke bowls.

The best way to soak up the Miami Beach vibes is to dine al fresco at their Ocean Social restaurant. It offers a welcoming, inclusive vibe with unfussy dishes that showcase the best produce from the local area. They have a wood-fired oven for pizza lovers, do check out their avocado and honey pizza which is a local speciality, or their lobster spaghetti with spicy tomato sauce, garlic, and chives. Spiny lobsters are hugely popular in Florida as they are caught off the famous Keys.

If you are looking for other dining options, there are plenty to choose from especially at South Beach, from Gianni’s at the former Versace Mansion to the vegan-friendly Indian restaurant, Diya.

Spa

To do

Without heading to Miami City, you will have plenty to keep you occupied at Miami Beach. Apart from a beach resort experience, Miami Beach is well known to have the highest concentration of Art Deco buildings in the world, so why not consider an Art Deco walking tour? There are other options such as Segway tours or cruises around the islands including star island where you can spot the mansions of the rich and famous.

In a nutshell

With the perfect balance of a beach holiday and the excitement of a trendy urban city, Nobu Miami Beach offers the best of both worlds and is the dream getaway for some winter sun.
