Prague is a city that resonates with history, beauty, and an undeniable sense of charm. Recently, I embarked on a journey to this captivating destination and, in terms of accommodation, wanted not just a place to stay, but an experience that would allow my family and I to immerse ourselves in Prague’s timeless elegance.
The Julius Prague, nestled in the heart of this Bohemian jewel, promised us just that and with its blend of luxury and history, it was the perfect base to explore the city’s wonders with our busy toddler.
Hotel
Our adventure began the moment we arrived at The Julius Prague, a place that effortlessly exudes an air of grandeur that hints at the stories hidden within its walls.
What immediately struck us was the hotel’s versatility, catering to both leisure and business travellers with equal finesse. For business travellers, The Julius offers a range of amenities that make work feel like a breeze. High-speed Wi-Fi ensures that you’re always connected, while the business centre provides a quiet space for meetings and productivity. Meanwhile, leisure travellers will find solace in the hotel’s tranquil ambience, where the city’s vibrant energy is balanced by a sense of relaxation and escape.
The self-service laundry room was also a nice touch; especially for families travelling with young children.
Room
We stayed in the deluxe one-bedroom suite, a haven of comfort and elegance, and frankly nothing short of spectacular.
As we opened the door to our suite, we were greeted with a spacious living area that exuded warmth and sophistication. This space included a fully-kitted kitchen, dining room, and living room. The spacious bedroom, adorned with plush furnishings, beckoned us to unwind and rejuvenate. It was a truly comfortable and relaxing space full of little luxuries to make our stay even more special.
The true pièce de résistance, however, was the bathroom where a deep soaking bathtub and large waterfall shower awaited, promising moments of serenity amid our bustling days of exploration.
From the suite’s large windows, we were treated to a breath-taking view of Prague’s iconic red-tiled rooftops. Each morning, as the sun bathed the city in a soft, golden light, we felt as though we were part of a living postcard, a sensation that filled our hearts with wonder.
Food
Dining at The Julius Prague was a delight that unfolded in two acts – breakfast and dinner at the Brasserie, which became a cherished part of our Prague experience.
Our mornings began with breakfast at this charming eatery where the menu was a symphony of flavours, offering a delightful range of options to cater to every palate. From freshly baked pastries that melted in our mouths to a selection of artisanal cheeses, breakfast was a celebration of taste and a perfect start to our days of exploration.
In the evenings, the Brasserie transformed into a haven of gastronomy. Dinner here was an experience in itself, a journey through the rich culinary traditions of Prague. We savoured traditional Czech dishes like svíčková, a tender marinated beef sirloin served with a velvety creamy sauce and accompanied by the delightful tang of cranberry jam. Each plate was a masterpiece, a fusion of flavours that paid homage to Prague’s culinary heritage.
To do
While the hotel is an experience in itself, Prague beckons with its historic charm and cultural treasures. To make the most of our exploration, we decided to use the Prague Visitor Pass, a decision that would enhance our journey in ways we hadn’t anticipated.
The pass opened doors to the city’s cultural riches, making our exploration both convenient and enriching. We began our adventure at Prague Castle, an architectural marvel that offered not only a glimpse into history, but also panoramic views of the city. We also ventured to the iconic Charles Bridge, with its mystical allure and intricate statues. Navigating the city was a breeze with public transportation like trams and buses that we could use freely with the Pass.
Wandering through Lesser Town, we discovered hidden courtyards and quaint shops. The architecture, a blend of Baroque and Renaissance styles, was a visual feast and we loved exploring the winding streets and charming squares.
Finally, of course, no visit to Prague would be complete without indulging in the city’s iconic pastries. We savoured trdelník, a sweet pastry that was as delightful to eat as it was to watch being made. Plus, we took a leisurely cruise along the Vltava River, which provided us with a different perspective of Prague’s beauty and enlightened us to the remarkable history of the city.
In a nutshell
The Julius Prague is not just a hotel; it’s an immersion into the soul of Prague itself. It’s a place where history meets modernity, where luxury is an everyday experience, and where the city’s magic is at your doorstep. From the moment you arrive to the final farewell, The Julius is a destination that lingers in your heart, a memory to treasure until your next visit to the captivating Czech capital.
