Hotel Review: The St. Regis Toronto, Toronto in Canada

By Ina Yulo Stuve   |

As one of the newest luxury hotels in Canada, the St. Regis Toronto has become a force to be reckoned with. Located on Bay Street within the city’s financial district, the 65-storey property has 134 rooms, 124 suites, and 7 meeting rooms. On the 31st floor, the in-house spa invites guests to relax and take their pick from carefully-designed treatments on their Wellness Menu. A 24-hour fitness centre is also available as is a heated indoor pool with views over the city skyline.

We were warmly welcomed by the St. Regis bespoke butler service, who introduced us to the many unique features of our suite and invited us to explore the hotel and all it had to offer. Services that we availed of included complimentary pressing, unpacking, and French press coffee in the mornings, as well as a personalised walking itinerary put together by the St. Regis concierge for us to discover the different neighbourhood sights.

We spent the weekend in the beautiful Deluxe Corner Suite. The 900-square-foot quarters included an incredibly comfortable King bed, a spacious living room with a work desk, wet bar, fireplace, and a bird’s eye view of the city below. The immaculate marble bathroom had both a shower and a bathtub, with a TV built in to the mirror. The plug-in High Tech room allowed us to control the ambient lighting, drapes, and temperature from touchscreen devices around the suite. We also appreciated the bedside docking station and stereo clock radio which allowed us to choose from a variety of sleep-inducing lullabies.

Perched on the top floor is the swish bar and restaurant LOUIX LOUIS. The interiors were designed to make guests feel like they were encapsulated within a crystal whiskey glass, with the pièce de résistance being the towering grand bar boasting over 500 dark spirits. LOUIX LOUIS became the place where we started and ended our days; breakfast was served by the lovely Feagle who gave us insights on her favourite places in the city whilst our evenings were spent with a nightcap by the bar.

The St. Regis celebrates three Signature Rituals: the Bloody Mary, Afternoon Tea, and the Evening Sabering Ritual. We were lucky enough to taste the original Bloody Mary at LOUIX LOUIS and were told the story of how it was perfected at The St. Regis New York in 1934 and how each St. Regis hotel puts a unique spin on the classic. Additionally, we attended the Evening Sabering Ritual and very much enjoyed witnessing the champagne sabrage in the beautiful Astor Lounge.

The weekend that my fiancé Brage and I were in Toronto, the city was alive with celebrations and a parade for the newly-crowned NBA Finals champions, the Toronto Raptors. The hotel’s location put us right in the heart of the action and we relished being able to participate in all the festivities. The St. Regis Toronto is also just a stone’s throw away from popular attractions like Rogers Centre, the CN Tower, and Scotiabank Arena. We also found it to be situated perfectly for taking a walk to the wonderful St. Lawrence Market and the nearby Distillery District to get a taste of local delicacies.

The St. Regis Toronto fulfils its promise to deliver a new era of glamour to Canada’s Queen City. With unparalleled service, signature rituals, and exquisite suites, a stay at the St. Regis Toronto is the perfect getaway for city dwellers and visitors alike who are looking for a luxurious retreat in the middle of the metropolis.
