Stress-free travel

When it comes to travelling into the city, we’d advise to travel to London by train, this way you’ll beat all of the traffic and it leaves you free to roam the city as you please. From pounding the streets with the Londoners, to hopping on one of London’s iconic red buses or black cabs – it couldn’t be easier to get about.

Also, remember that your time is short on a weekend break, so you’ve got to hit the ground running as soon as you arrive. If you arrive ahead of your hotel check-in time, search online for local luggage storage services to store all of your luggage in a convenient location. Local services like Kings Cross left luggage allow you to keep your suitcases and belongings in a secure and safe area. This way, you can get a head start on shopping you can explore the city’s other attractions like the London Eye, Churchill War Rooms, Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, and so on.

The best coffee shops

After you’ve travelled in by train, there’s no doubt that your first stop will be grabbing a coffee. Head to Borough Market, London’s foodie mecca and join the winding queue outside Monmouth coffee. Established in 1756, Monmouth Coffee roast their beans from single farms, estates, and cooperatives around the coffee-growing world, which are then skilfully roasted in nearby Bermondsey. Get your coffee of choice to take away and enjoy people watching or sampling some exquisite food fresh from the market.

See the sights

No trip to London is complete without a visit to Buckingham Palace. This iconic building is not only one of the most recognised buildings in the world, but also a symbol of British royalty and history.

As you approach Buckingham Palace, you are greeted by the world-famous Pall Mall, lined with Union Jack flags and elegant buildings. The long drive up to the palace is truly breath-taking as is the grand building that stands at the top.

Time it rightly and the palace may be open for guided tours where visitors can enjoy tours of the grand halls and state rooms.

Shop ’til you drop

Head to the charming neighbourhood of Notting Hill and its world-renowned Portobello Market. Here, you’ll be mesmerised by the rows of pastel-coloured million-pound homes that line the streets, each one more beautiful than the last. But it’s not just the architecture that draws visitors to this vibrant area. Portobello Market is a treasure trove of vintage and unique finds, and there is also Camden Market, Brick Lane, Covent Garden as well as the popular Oxford Street, which is home to the famous Selfridges store.

Cocktail bars galore

Three Sheets – this award-winning neighbourhood cocktail bar is set in London’s trendy Dalston. And like its quirky setting, the menu and concept behind it is too. Changing weekly, the menu is divided up by strengths – One Sheet, Two Sheet, and Three Sheet, the higher in turn making the tipple that bit stronger. The clean and simple menu of well-put together flavours will give you a great glimpse into living in London with the coolest of crowds.

Michelin-starred dining

What better way to see the city at night than from above? Dine in London’s tallest building, the Shard. With seven different restaurants or bars to choose from, we recommend Aqua Shard for contemporary British cuisine with great views. Team with a carefully crafted cocktail – the spectacular space has floor-to-ceiling glass windows offering 360-degree views of London.

The best luxury hotels

London is full of incredible hotels from The Ritz to the edgier NHow but if you’re looking for the ultimate luxury experience in London, then Claridge’s is the hotel for you. Dating back to 1812, its Mayfair location couldn’t be more central and once you step inside, it’s like stepping back in time in the best possible way. Its Art Deco style rooms, pure glamour, and quintessentially British charm are unparalleled. Plus, its mouth-watering afternoon tea is not to be missed, it’s one of the best in the city, set in their most magnificent foyer.

Picnics in the parks

London is famous for its parks, and for good reason too. From Hyde Park to Hampstead Heath and Primrose Hill – this lively city is also filled with magnificent green spaces. From concerts to picnics, London’s parks are as diverse as the city itself, so before you set off home be sure to take a stroll around one of these magnificent places.

One thing is for sure – London will never disappoint!
